Toby Kadachi

LW | 6'6" | 236 lbs

24 years old | Russia

Drafted 19th overall by the Houston Bulls

Season 91 is almost here and and for our last scouting report we're covering the Russian left winger, Toby Kadachi. The 24 year old came over from the KHL to try his hand and skates at the VHL level. He joined the Houston Bulls part way through season 89, a season in which the team was all in for, sadly it would not pay off as the team got eliminated in the first round by a team that seemed to have their number throughout the regular season. In the following season Kadachi was brought back to the Houston franchise as he slid in the draft, he was traded a quarter into the season to the Mississauga Hounds and helped the team to win it all. In 94 regular season games Kadachi has put up 66 points, 32 goals and 34 assists. In the post season 9 points in 22 games. Kadachi's playoffs run with the Hounds was rough but he was playing very tough minutes, a take one for the team situation. With points out of the way lets talk about some of his strengths and weaknesses.

Pros

Goal scoring: While he did end the his time in the VHLM with more assists than goals it's not by much, it's simply been a matter of Kadachi finding his game here. He has a great shot and it'll only get better with time in the VHL

Physical: Kadachi is a big guy and landed 213 hits during his time in the M, that's including playoffs. He's not afraid to get physical with the other team and can be great for firing up his own team and making sure the other team backs off.

Speed: Kadachi has great skate speed, it one of the things he wanted the most to be good at when he was young, to be a fast skater. He's electrifying and it can lead to many breakaway chances for his team.

Cons

Passing: With Kadachi being so focused on scoring goals though it means he doesn't put enough effort into distributing the puck. He's focused to much on his own game and that belief he can do it all. It might work out here and there but he doesn't always have the bigger picture in mind

Penalties: With being physical there's always the other side of it, taking dumb penalties and to many of them. It's one thing to wake up your team with a good fight but another when you keep putting your team a player down with bad penalties.

faceoffs: While he's not a center and faceoffs aren't his thing, he has very little practice in that area of his game and it means if the center is kicked out you can't rely on Kadachi to take over, it's something coaches will want to address in his game.
