More to come in Malmo

The European Conference is a bloodbath this season. The race for playoff spots is truly on, and there will be no quarter given. The Malmo Nighthawks have had a somewhat inconsistent start to the season. The team was steady at 0.500 until a recent four-game winning streak saw the Swedish side leapfrog HC Davos Dynamo into fifth place.

“It’s been an interesting start to the season. I think it’s definitely been the case that things weren’t clicking on the defensive side of the puck, and also we had trouble getting our depth guys on the board, but some recent changes appear to have worked over recent games,” Nighthawks forward Yaroslav Bogatyrev said on Wednesday.

Bogatyrev’s comments come after the Nighthawks put a 6-2 beating on the Prague Phantoms, one of the frontrunners in the conference. The Russian forward had a quiet game, being held off the scoreboard, but said that the two points was most important.

“Some of the other guys pulled on the rope in that game and got the result we needed. The D played great and we got some great goaltending, and it’s a huge confidence boosting win for us,” he concluded.
