Annie is raring and ready to go!

Mere days from the start of a new VHLM season toady we're taking a quick look at the defending league champ Saskatoon Wild and one of their new Acquisitions and their outlook on their first year in the league. Annie Oaks the right winger from Great Britain beyond the pond will be joining Saskatoon as they look to defend their league title. We managed to catch up with Annie and asked a few questions, responding to whether or not playing in western Canada would be daunting or nerve wracking Annie had this to say.

"Well, it's not my first time this side of Pacific, I played many years here in Vancouver so I kind of have a good idea of what the fans will be like. Hockey in Canada is like nothing else and the fans live and die with their team, I'm hoping to live up to their expectations."

Well it's good to know that you are prepared for hockey in Canada, you've had a couple great years over in the EIHL, do you think you can replicate that success in VHML?

"I'd like too, but this is a league with some of the best up and coming talent from around the world. I'm tempering my expectations but i'm going to leave it all out there on the ice, it's what the fans expect and what they deserve."

The fans do love it when a player leaves it all out there, now we wanted to ask is there a reason you chose Saskatoon did you receive any other offers?

"They were the first team to reach out to me and I jumped on the oppurtunity to play in western Canada again. Not to mention I thought I might get a chance at some good minutes seeing the roster turnover, and i'll get to play with a few returning cup winners like Leo Neelson III, Crazy Tomato, and Sylvia Davis."

Speaking of playing time, are you expecting to be given first line minutes going into your first year here in Saskatoon?

"No I don't expect anything to be given to me, I'm going to work for anything I can get and be grateful for it. At this level no one is given anything for free you have to earn every second on the ice, if you're not on the coach should go with someone who is, simple as that."

Okay, you've definetly got the acumen of someone who's used to answering questions from the media. Thanks so much for giving us this chance to talk to you and the Saskatoon fans a chance to hear from you ahead of the season, we'd like to wish you the best of luck in your freshman year Annie.

"Thanks, and I look forward to playing in front of the Wonderful fans in Saskatoon this year. Let's get Wild out there!"

And that was the brief conversation we were able to have with one of Saskatoons newest faces, how will Annie Oaks fare in her debut season against the best young talent around, We can't wait to see.

Again, a very well-thought-out and informative post by a potential line-mate!

With such a strong slapshot and great offensive vision, I'll be looking to feed you passes anytime we're out there together. I'm predicting big points coming from you in your rookie season, and I can't wait to see what you can contribute on the ice. Your overall dedication to the game and Saskatoon is inspiring and helps to motivate me as well!
