AJW 2,196
Houston Bulls First Week in the VHLM Hello Houston fans! I'm doing well thanks for asking. Through one week of the VHLM the Houston Bulls have been seeing changes like no other team in S92. Houston currently ranks number 1 in S92 Waiver Signings with 11 players signed! This recent ad drop couldn't have come at a better time for Houston, after a S91 Cup Contending season, the roster was left empty, only to be filled by four S92 draft picks. Houston picked up 3 forwards plus a goaltender from the draft, and traded for another forward from Vegas. Since then, the current 10-4-2 roster we have built has been swarmed by first gens! These are not your typical first gen waivers though, someone take the horseshoe out of my rear and check out the development these players have shown in three weeks or less of joining the team: Name: Base TPE -> Current TPE Lucy Leitner: 60 -> 135 Nathan Ecker: 60 -> 128 Nathan Schwartz: 60 -> 114 Ondrej Vencko: 60 -> 110 Filip Zinek: 60 -> 95 Charles Losfeld: 60 -> 81 Dylan Boland: 60 -> 77 Benjamin Abenduct: 66 -> 130 Cody Toland: 66 -> 89 Jack Dickins: 66 -> 85 I am so proud of this group already. These are just the totals of our players from waiver signings, not including centreman Deez nutz who seems to unfortunately be going inactive. We also have captain Trimiskez Artav, first gen player, approaching the TPE cap in their first season of play. These TPE jumps are crazy, these players are a treat for any lucky GM, and it is already showing through our play. 5-5-2 to start the season is nothing to be excited or disappointed about. Houston has multiple players in VHLM top 10 categories, as well as multiple players over or around a point per game. I can't imagine what this team will look like in a few weeks when playoffs start itching closer. By then I am sure most of our roster will have found a way to be effective, whether that be on the offensive or defensive side of the puck. This team shows a lot of heart and dedication to getting there. It is a process, like most things in life, you can't get rich quick folks! Houston is ready to grind out this season and develop all these talented S93 prospects for a fun playoff run. Here is a look at Houston's schedule to start to the season: Game 1: W 6-4 Game 2: SOL 2-1 Game 3: L 2-1 Game 4: OTL 4-3 Game 5: L 5-4 Game 6: W 6-2 Game 7: L 4-2 Game 8: L 4-3 Game 9: W 4-2 Game 10: W 7-6 Game 11: W 5-1 Game 12: L 8-3 To wrap this article up I'd like to share something we do in Houston (some teams may have other names for it) called The Flaming Bull Award. We have been doing it for a few seasons now and essentially it is a Player of the Game Award. Each sim there are usually 1-3 games simmed per team, of those 1-3 games I decide who played the best. This award is a lot of fun to hand out because I find players actually want to win it, they want to perform well in sims and earn my made up award. If I were a player on this team I would probably want to win it a couple times too. There have been some close decisions this season already but here are the Flaming Bull Award Winners through the first 6 sims of play: Game 1, 2: Game Winning Goal, 3 Assists, 4 Points, 7 Shots Blocked Game 3,4: Win, 0.946 SV%, 35/37 Game 5, 6: 2 Goals, 3 Assists, 15 Shots Game 7, 8: 3 Assists, +1, 5 Shots Blocked Game 9, 10: 2 Goals, 2 Assists, 5 Shots Game 11, 12: 3 Goals - Hat Trick, Game Winning Goal, 1 Assist, 12 Shots Edited January 16 by AJW jacobcarson877, tcookie, Nathan_8 and 2 others 2 3 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/144331-houston-bulls-getting-there/ Share on other sites

tcookie 927
In S74 when I joined, there was the massive recruitment drive a couple days after me, and in Miami we ended up with 4 or 5 really active first gens all signing up at basically the same time. As a new member, it was cool to have a lot of people at the same stage of their VHL careers who all wanted to improve and I think that environment helped motivate and push us all to improve together. GM Rice was a big part of it too. I see the same kind of thing happening right now, maybe in a couple of VHLM places, but especially in Houston! jake, AJW and Nathan_8 3 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/144331-houston-bulls-getting-there/#findComment-1012339 Share on other sites

The 5-5-2 record is most definitely not going to be a theme for long as we are improving at an incomprehensible rate and could have a lot of players capped by the end of the season and some of the tpe you showed for the new gens in the article is already obsolete which just furthers my point. I like the analogy you made of not being able to get rich quick as right now we are middle class but with rich soil to grow off of which it may take some time this season but by the end we will have a garden capable of making us billionaires. Overall great article 8.5/10 AJW 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/144331-houston-bulls-getting-there/#findComment-1012403 Share on other sites
