My All-Star Event

Theme week rolls around, and it's a great one! I love reading all about the different all-star takes they have for the topic, whether its players who deserve to play in an event right now or past players who should have. But I want to take an additional step back. I mentioned something before about how we need more community involvement while the season progresses or when the off-season commences. Instead of focusing on the players currently in the multiple leagues...

 

We should have an event for the users. The All-Star Event for the VHL Community.

 

This would be a great addition to add for both retention and competitive fun! We can go back to having graphics contests, creating banners for the previous cup winners, featuring fantastic media spots and posts from the past season, even having march madness style brackets for things the community wants to vote on (pets, favorite foods, etc.). The idea focuses solely on the users sitting at their screens or checking their phones everyday. We have enough focus on the players being simmed. Let's highlight the users that make up the community. I love to see all of the interactions with the Christmas event and I think that level of users checking in can be seen if we have an All-Star community event like this every off-season. I'm not saying we need to have a massive raffle for prizes, but why not throw out some fun uncapped TPE for the best graphics, best media spots, or winner of the VHL Pet Bracket.

 

I say this because I believe we desperately need something to remain focused on, especially during the off-season. Every time a season ends, I'm met with "wow this off-season is taking forever!" or "what do we do at this point?". We wait sometimes to an extreme length for the season to begin. And I feel like many users start to lose focus during that time period. That's where you put something like the All-Star Event for the VHL Community. We should take a week when activity is at its lowest and make a point to showcase our talents and highlight the many users who contribute to the community through different forms of creativity.

 

Even adding on additional points, this is a great opportunity to take some of these users and highlight them on our recruiting platforms, like TikTok or Instagram. No you don't have to post their graphics but taking the effort to say "Congrats to this certain member for this fantastic article! Check it out here!" and then link it in the reel or tiktok would draw in even more users. If they see that actual people are a part of this community and that we have active events going on, they may be interested.

 

At least I think so. I don't know I'm just throwing this out there for theme week while I'm trying to get my family ready for a vacation out in Florida. We're going to Lego Land this Saturday but my kids have no idea yet
