Gaikoku-hito 2,132
A ton of movement in the way of trades happen this week and, in the power, ranking we have an all-new top three for the first time this season as some teams really started to catch fire. Other teams have cooled and will look to warm things up before next week trade deadline with the final push to the play-offs just around the corner. Either way you didn`t come here to see me waffle on so onto the Power Rankings….. Ranked 16th Goals For: 15th Goals Against: 15th Standings: 15th Score: 15.00 Last Ranking: 12th 3-9-1 record; which was second worse last week is always going to see a team drop in the power ranking; not to mention combined eight trades involving any player that might hold value to other teams in the league and should I say it? Yeah, the tanks are rolling in Vancouver. Ranked 15th Goals For: 12th Goals Against: 16th Standings: 16th Score: 14.67 Last Ranking: 16th The whole Pacific Northwest seems to be at war with the tanks rolling through Seattle and Vancouver but in a surprise twist Seattle add players from a rival re-building team this week via trade with Davos?? It feels like these three teams are playing hot potato at the moment. Ranked 14th Goals For: 14th Goals Against: 14th Standings: 13th Score: 13.67 Last Ranking: 14th With a 5-8-0 record last week means that they held onto the potato too long and managed to claim the 14th ranking this week as Davos will look to invade the Pacific Northwest in the final weeks of the season if they are going to improve their chances at collecting the best odds during the lottery draft at the end of the season. As mentioned, a new roster make up after a big trade with the Bears could see Davos drop in the final rankings. Ranked 13th Goals For: 11th Goals Against: 11th Standings: 11th Score: 11.00 Last Ranking: 8th 6-7-1 record was 11th in the league last week as the team struggled to score but managed to hang onto a play-off spot. Toronto will look to find that scoring touch again if they are going to continue to push upwards in the North American Conference. Ranked 12th Goals For: 10th Goals Against: 8th Standings: 14th Score: 10.67 Last Ranking: 11th Rough week as the Predators became the prey going 4-7-1 last week and have dropped completely out of the play-off picture; which has led to Warsaw pulling the plug and joining Davos invasion force of the Pacific Northwest. Biggest winner from this turn of events is …. Davos as they hold Warsaw 1st round pick this coming off season. It might be a few rough final weeks in Warsaw and the power rankings. Ranked 11th Goals For: 13th Goals Against: 7th Standings: 9th Score: 9.67 Last Ranking: 15th Chicago seem raise like a Phoenix every time after a bad week as they have done this week by going 7-5-1 and pulling New York and the struggling Toronto Legion back within grasp; just as I thought they might be done of the season. Well, climbing out of the basement as someone forgot to give them the final kiss good night and so they are back? Will be interesting to see what they do as the trade deadline approaches as it will give a clear indication of what they think or hope might happen towards making the play-offs. Ranked 10th Goals For: 3rd Goals Against: 13th Standings: 12th Score: 9.33 Last Ranking: 6th This team is like Jekyll and Hyde as from week-to-week Riga seems to play different style of games; one week top of the league defensively and struggle to score. Followed quickly the next week scoring at ton but unable to play defense at all. Yet through it all the managed a five hundred record? Young team that will now really start to look towards next season as they fallen too far back of a wildcard spot. Ranked 9th Goals For: 16th Goals Against: 3rd Standings: 7th Score: 8.67 Last Ranking: 13th New York pulled themselves up into fourth by the end of last week with a 7-6-1 record; which was the seventh best overall in the league. Changes have been made in New York with a huge trade bring in Alfred Champagne and Clueless Wallob from Warsaw to try to provide a bit more offensive power and veteran present in goal for what New York hopes to be a long play-off run but New York has to make the play-offs first. Ranked 8th Goals For: 8th Goals Against: 6th Standings: 10th Score: 8.00 Last Ranking: 10th Middle of the pack in the Power rankings for a team that is supposed to be a Titan!! Inconsistent play and a lack of power-play kept Helsinki in the middle of the pack as they managed only to play five hundred hockey with 6-5-2 record. At least they should have a play-off spot locked as Warsaw and Riga start to fall off the back in Europe. Ranked 7th Goals For: 7th Goals Against: 10th Standings: 6th Score: 7.67 Last Ranking: 3rd A bit surprised to see the second-best team in the European Conference this low in the power rankings but with the 7th best goals for and 10th goals against really shows that Moscow had a mid-week playing two games above five hundred. The Menace have tried to add more offense by collecting Dogwood Maple via trade with Warsaw making them into what could be a scary team down the stretch. Ranked 6th Goals For: 9th Goals Against: 4th Standings: 8th Score: 7.00 Last Ranking: 2nd Goals dried up this week in Calgary but the Wranglers still managed to go 7-5-1 hanging onto second in the North American Conference but did lose ground to the Los Angele Stars and now are being chased by Dragons; imaginary or not!! Calgary will need to find that scoing touch again that they had last week if they are going to stay ahead of D.C and catch backup to Los Angeles. Ranked 5th Goals For: 6th Goals Against: 4th Standings: 5th Score: 6.67 Last Ranking: 1st The Stars have fallen thanks to the kiss of death by this writer since I stated last week that I didn`t see them falling any time soon. Scoring down, goals against up and a rather average week at 8-5-1 means Los Angeles are falling in this week’s rankings while maintain a health lead in the North American Conference and should still be a team to beat down the stretch. Ranked 4th Goals For: 2nd Goals Against: 12th Standings: 4th Score: 6.00 Last Ranking: 7th Last week I stated that London would need to buck the trend of giving up a lot of goals if they were going to climb back up the power rankings. Well, London had other ideas as the United tried to outscore their defensive issues instead boast the second-best offense last week with fifty goals. Add in loser points in what should have been a rather average week and you have a team that actually moved up in the rankings rather than down the ranks. London still need to find answer to the defensive concerns. Ranked 3rd Goals For: 5th Goals Against: 2nd Standings: 3rd Score: 3.33 Last Ranking: 9th Second week in a row that Prague has moved up in the power rankings and maybe should have the rest of Europe looking over their shoulders? The move to boast the offense seems to have worked after bring in Ben McLaughlin from Vancouver a week ago; going from the 11th best offense to the 5th in a single week. Better goaltending and defensive play led to an 9-5-0 record and seen them climb into 4th in the European Conference. Prague will try to build upon last week’s success. Ranked 2nd Goals For: 4th Goals Against: 1st Standings: 2nd Score: 2.33 Last Ranking: 4th The Dragons were breathing fire last week and burning a path to actually tied for 1st in power ranking but due to tie break have been slotted second behind Malmo Nighthawks. Outscoring every opponent by 2-1 ratio last week and league best defense seen the Dragons go 10-3-0 last week pulling themselves up all the way to third in the North American Conference. Another week like this and they could be really breathing down the necks of Los Angeles; that I think would be rather hot and some the Stars don`t want!! Ranked 1st Goals For: 1st Goals Against: 5th Standings: 1st Score: 2.33 Last Ranking: 5th Clearly the best team last week with 12-2-0 record while scoring at will as the Nighthawks made quick work of the prey last week. Not much negative I can say about the Hawks at the moment as they continue to fire on all cylinders and look set to finish a top of the European Conference. Like always concern and comment below what you think of this week’s Power ranking, anything that can be improved or anything you would like to see add in the future. Until next week keep your head up and sticks on the ice!! Spartan 4,530
As of when were these stats? Moscow dropping from 3rd to 7th while on a 15 game win streak is a bit surprising! Moscow dropping from 3rd to 7th while on a 15 game win streak is a bit surprising! From the beginning of the week as I take all stats right after the sims on Sunday to give enough lead up to collect data and than write up the articles. So, since I am fighting a bad flu this week I have been slower than normal getting the articles so most of the data will seem old since it based on last weeks performance; not this weeks performance. Moscow will clearly move up next week or in a day when I collect the next data set. Edit* Last week Moscow went 8-6-0 with 4 straight wins to finish the week. 7th overall in the stands on the week.
