Gustav 6,469
I'm recreating, y'all! Art Vandelay has less than 24 hours or so left as a non-retired VHL player. It's been a culmination of a whole lot of words entered into this website, and it feels weird to let go of that. Over the course of my career with Vandelay, I've changed quite a bit both on and off the VHL, so I think it might be fun to speculate a bit on what could happen going forward. None of this is stuff I directly intend to do, but it's all stuff I could see happening based on some very general feelings. We'll see if any of it at all actually pans out. I will be drafted no earlier than 3rd overall and no later than 6th. I think the league has its share of people who go more insane than I currently do in that there will probably be fantasy zone weeks that I miss out on and I'm not the incredibly active, live-in-the-locker-room-type that I used to be. But no GM will be making a mistake in drafting me--I've max earned almost every single week for the past five years of my life, I have a track record of team loyalty, and I like to think that most people out there see me as nice enough and smart enough that they'd see my player as a benefit. My player will not make the Hall of Fame and will retire with less TPE than Vandelay. I intend to try as much as possible. I also have zero interest in playing in the E and will likely have a far lower cap than I would have if I decided not to progress on a sensible schedule--which apparently is 100% fair--so unless there's no room for me on a roster, I'm a little bit screwed by something that's ultimately still my choice but that I still think I'm allowed not to like anyway. I'd much rather stick to my principles than chase individual success, and it's a bit of a shame that those can no longer coexist in the VHL. But as for the second part of my original statement, the one about having less TPE? I hope I'll have more going on in my life, and in all the right ways, over the next couple years. What I'm doing at work should get more serious as I end up closer to reaching conclusions on some projects, and I'm also feeling single enough lately to go do something about it even though I have no clue what I'm doing. So, while I don't intend to drop off in earning, just know that if I do, I'm probably having fun. The league will have one massive change that I love and one massive change that I hate. This isn't me dropping BoG hints. I really have no idea what those changes will be; I just think they're on the way. I will finally win an individual award other than MVP and I will finally get a Cup. Maybe this contradicts my point about how I don't think I'm making the HoF, but I think I can say this too because I think it's about time. There's a bit less competition on defense anyway--even Garcia got nominated for one of the awards at one point. At the end of my next career, both Bana and Hedge will still be GMs. They've been in their roles longer than I've been in the league and I have no idea how they do it--10 seasons was enough for me and I still don't particularly want to get back into it. The greatest defenseman of this generation--if he makes one--will be made by @jacobcarson877. The third time is far more than enough to be the charm here, and he's the one person I can name who I'm pretty sure is going defense and will probably out-earn me. Contrary to what the past few seasons have indicated, I think we're going to have another too-many-players crisis. The recruitment server is popping off and I hope the recruitment that's done comes with actual targets in mind instead of the "pump the league as full as possible" mindset of a few years ago. We will see at least one major drama with a well-regarded user. I have no indication of what this might be; it's just been a while. The S100 class will cause legitimate issues with people trying to be part of that one specifically--I've even heard people saying they're going to do this and I don't like it. Expect 99 and 101 to be a little bit thinner, and expect a lot of shady GMing surrounding that as people try to get their picks in certain seasons. I wouldn't be surprised if a recreate or two were made at times more conducive to that player's placement on a specific team (let's say a GM creates in S100 so their player is more likely to be available, or loads up on the 99s and tries to change a few minds. Going off of that, I think we're going to see some really really good players in the S96-98 classes or so. If the S100 panic is enough, we could see players hitting their peak builds a few seasons before a large part of the league, with not many players with TPE levels in between. It's possible this effect could even extend to players created this coming week, and maybe I'll benefit from it as well if enough people retire after S98. That's what I think could happen. What do you think? jacobcarson877, Gaikoku-hito and Banackock 3 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/144921-hot-takes-for-my-next-vhl-career/ Share on other sites

This one is bound to happen since I have been here such a short time and I have had both my players see massive changes in both of their careers from VHLE, Hybrid and deprecation; changes that made it harder to make the HOF for nine season players. 7 hours ago, Gustav said: The greatest defenseman of this generation--if he makes one--will be made by @jacobcarson877. You are safe from my re-create as I am leaning going forward or goaltender. Most likely going Forwards as I think the change that could be coming would be a nerfing of the goaltenders don`t know why I just think that might be the situation. Oh, and I am also looking to skip the VHLE and run a 9 season career again if I can but I will let the TPE fall as it may. While I have no hate for the VHLE; I also have no love for holding my own player back to have an 8 or even a 7 season career. I have never been big around winning awards as too many factors are in play as I feel like I have been FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY a few times in the past so it makes the team awards more important or your own personal goals that much more important. PEB being a point per game and reaching 650pts by the end of his career is more important to me than winning an award at the moment. He will finish top 10 is SB all time history, Top 150 all time points and a few other interesting stats too me. Greatest aspect of these stats is the fact that I never intended to be even close to these stats. TOh, Top 10 in TPE even though he won`t stay there that long and done without the ability to collect donation TPE so lost out on the 99-110 TPE that he would have gained if I could donate from Japan; which I cannot. 7 hours ago, Gustav said: We will see at least one major drama with a well-regarded user. It has been a while with Mex being the last one of importance if I am correct but I also hope that this doesn`t happen as it nicer to have the users stay nice to each other..... 7 hours ago, Gustav said: Going off of that, I think we're going to see some really really good players in the S96-98 classes or so. Very interesting take but I also hope that this doesn`t happen as I like a more balanced league. I even hate the fact that Seattle, Vancouver, Davos and Warsaw are in rebuilding states. One or two teams are okay but the trend we are seeing with half of the league rebuilding isn`t something that I want to see. Overall, Great read as always and some interesting takes!! I feel like I probably will, was leaning G for a bit, but seeing the situation as is, I can't imagine I'll want to be a G in a year, let alone 2. I thought C for like 3 hours, but I might as well just have done 1 of every position? I have ideas and theories that will either work or really not but hey someone has to have the fun around here!
