Team Canada World Cup Roster Revealed

The World Cup roster for Team Canada was revealed yesterday. The roster features some star power in the likes of Naomi Young, and Brick Wahl, with some players in their prime such as Logan Laich, Godavarai Yumalatopinto and Don Draper. The roster also showcases some of the best and brightest as young future stars like Sachimo Zoidberg, Gifford Shock, Tyler Cote, and Nicholas Caprivi. Even good utility players like Jackson Miller, and Willie Weber have found a home on the roster. It's a very mixed roster that represents a good present and future for the Canadian team. 

 

The Captains and Assistant Captains were also named. In a surprise move coaches and the selection committee went with Don Draper for Captain. Draper assumed the role of Captain for the Helsinki Titans after Svoboda made a surprise retirement. Draper has been a vocal leader in the young Titans squad and has displayed maturity far beyond his age. It is likely his on and off ice skill as well as his dedication to the VHL is a big reason why he was selected as Captain. Veteran Naomi Young was named an assistant captain, Young is a multiple time cup winner who continues to have a career of moving around. Logan Laich also received an A, as a former Cologne Captain and vocal player, Laich seems to have an ability to motivate players around him to play great, even if he can't execute himself. 

 

The Team Canada roster while not the strongest on paper has a great mix of talent, depth, and star power in the right places. It could be a serious threat in the World Cup in Season 40, look for them to be playing in a medal game this year!
