Despite not making the Western Europe roster, journalists were alerted to the attendance of the team's pre-World Cup training camp by highly-rated rookies Antonia Bucatini and Gianfranco Del Rocco. The S94 tournament comes slightly too soon for the Italian pair but with Sjin and The Frenchman retiring at the conclusion of this World Cup and Bucatini and Del Rocco developing very rapidly since the draft, they will very likely be pushing for a top 6 spot on the team by S96.

Having seen a 4-tournament medal streak ended in S92, it makes sense that Western Europe's management wants to create a sense of camaraderie and team spirit in the camp by including not only this season's players but also the team's future. However, speculation has picked up about why it is specifically Bucatini and Del Rocco who have made the trip, with the rumour mill about the duo's relationship swirling ever since Bucatini was noticed in attendance at Seattle's playoff games a few weeks ago. It's a long trip from Davos to Seattle and likewise for both of them from Seattle back to Europe, rekindling the old theory from their VHLM and VHLE days that the pair are more than just fellow prospects.

Adding further fuel to the fire was the dramatic fallout from Adi Dassler's omission from the European roster with him not being included in the larger training camp squad. That only begs the question more – what are Bucatini and Del Rocco really doing there?
