Vancouver, BC – The Victory Hockey League’s 95th season is just around the corner, and the Vancouver Wolves are gearing up for another thrilling campaign. A key figure in the Wolves’ lineup is forward, Rip Wheeler. Known for his physicality and scoring ability, Wheeler has been putting in the work this offseason to elevate his game to new heights. When asked about his offseason regimen, Wheeler didn’t mince words. “We’ll baud, It’s been a grind,” he said with a grin. “Lifting heavy, stretching with the ya know uh yoga, learning to grapple with jiujitsu, and throwing some heavy punches in the boxing ring. I’m ready to bring the uh heat this season.” The tough-guy image is a staple for Wheeler, but there’s more to the forward than meets the eye. He’s quick to laugh and share stories about his teammates, particularly his close friend (or work “buddy” ), Logan Ninefingers. "We’ve been through a lot together ya know?” Wheeler said, a hint of nostalgia in his voice. "We’ve uh ya know. countless laughs and a few too many whiskeys. He's my brother…we’ll more like a step, but uh you get it." The duo's off-ice antics are legendary in the Wolves' locker room. From practical jokes to late-night escapades, they’ve become synonymous with the team's culture. But Wheeler is also aware of the importance of team unity and fostering a positive environment. One way the Wolves have done this is by embracing a tradition as old as hockey itself: hazing. "It’s a rite of uh passage," Wheeler explained. "Builds character, you know? We've got a new rookie this year, Bollos de Trueno. He's a good kid, hard worked and uh yeah, but he’s in for a world of fun." Wheeler’s playful demeanor quickly turned serious when the conversation shifted to the upcoming season. "We’ve got a talented group in the room” he said. "A mix of young guns and experienced veterans. We’re hungry for uh success, and we’re going to give it ya know, uh everything we’ve got." As for his personal goals, Wheeler is focused on improving his all-around game. "I want to contribute more offensively, while still being a physical force for the boys," he stated. "I want to be a leader and have an impact on and off the ice." Rips quest for greatness has been seasons on the making. He’s finally found a home after bouncing around the league for most of his career. “From the GM down to the boys working in the “M”, I couldn’t be happier to be part of of uh such a solid organization and bunch absolute savages in the room” With his combination of skill, grit, and humor, Rip Wheeler is a fan favorite and a crucial piece of the Vancouver Wolves puzzle. As the new season approaches, the hockey world is eagerly anticipating what he will bring to the ice. Rip has put in the work, but the work continues as the quest for a season 95 “ship” begins shortly! 511 words Edited July 27 by ScottyP Gaikoku-hito, Scurvy, Thunder and 2 others 4 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/150283-rip-wheeler-the-wolf-packs-ready-to-ride-for-the-95/ Share on other sites
