CowboyinAmerica 2,911
Davos, Switzerland -- Going into the season, HC Davos Dynamo fans weren't quite sure what to expect from their team. On the one hand, the team looked in many respects the same team that finished sixth in the European Conference last season. But on the other hand, the young team was poised to take a huge training leap forward in the offseason, bolstered by a number of promising young rookies all over the roster. A dozen games into the season, the answer looks to be the latter: Davos is legit. Currently, the Dynamo sit with 7-4-2 record, and their 16 points place them tied for third in Europe and fifth overall in the VHL. That puts them ahead of expected finals contenders in Seattle, New York and Warsaw. Plus, that record has not been the function of an easy schedule, with Davos racking up wins over Moscow twice and Warsaw thus far, plus an OT loss to the league-leading Riga Reign. "We had high hopes coming into the season, but you never know until you step on the ice. But we've proven what we thought we were going to prove," said second-year center Antonia Bucatini. "The vibes are good, I gotta say." For Bucatini personally, it has also been a successful start to the season. Her 20 points in 13 games places her top 10 in the league in total points, alongside teammates Grimgor Ironhide and David Jokinen. Her 14 assists also places her just outside the top 5 in that category. Still, there is an awareness there is a long way to go. But that's not a bad thing by Bucatini. "We're a young team, we're going to get even better as the season goes on," she added. "I'm feeling like it's going to be a great season from here. Make sure to watch Davos!"
