I Did A Thing

In reality, all I did was write a media spot for the first time in over a decade I'm sure. It was a strange feeling sitting down and writing for the VHL. Normally I feel much more comfortable in front of a microphone whittering away about pointless shit to pass enough time to meet the length requirements of a podcast. That's only partially true, but it is much easier for me to record a podcast since I find writing to be a bit arduous at times. However, I was performing a deep dive in certain statistics so it made sense to write it out rather than do the analysis and pray someone listens to my podcast to see the information. Charts and tables were easy to produce and make my media spot easier to digest relative to podcast. I do enjoy the fact that if you go over the word limit you can claim for multiple weeks. I used to enjoy creating content for the VHL, but there was always a feeling of "this is enough" because you'd just have to do the same thing next week. Now you can invest lots of time into a bigger article and be rewarded with a couple weeks off. I think it helps people produce stronger written pieces and incentivizes not rushing what you're doing - definitely a positive change.
