scoop 3,416
For the second time in his career, Malmo's Jacob Stone has been named the co-winner of the Jake Wylde Trophy, awarded each season to the played deemed the best defensive defender. In Season 92, Stone shared the award with then-defender Liv Slater of the Vancouver Wolves. Earlier this week, Stone again won the award, this time alongside Kronchy Kardashian. When Stone and Slater won the award back in Season 92, that tie was the only thing keeping Slater from a clean sweep of the top defender awards, as she claimed sole possession of both the Sterling Labatte and the Alexander Valiq Trophies. Slater was also named to the All-VHL First Team, while Stone only managed to claim a spot on the Second Team. For both of them, Season 92 was a breakout season. Stone now shares the trophy with Kardashian, who had previously won the Alexander Valiq Trophy back in Season 91. This is Kardashian's first award since then, and it is likewise Stone's first since he previously split the award. While the Wylde Trophy is shared, Stone was recognized as the better performing of the two overall as he made the All-VHL First Team for the second time in his career, while Kardashian was left off of the All-VHL teams altogether. Although he didn't win any other awards, Stone did receive votes for both the Labatte and Valiq Trophies as well.
