The Reapers got reapered. Weier earned a two-minute minor for slashing, Ottawa took advantage of the opportunity - Jakobs scored to make it 1-0. Only moments later Ottawa scored again as Harrington made it 2-0. Both teams played conservatively the whole game, not that many chances were created, but Owen two managed to find the back of the net again for Ottawa, a 3-0 lead after two periods. Philadelphia tried to get back into the game in the third, they had 9 shots to Ottawa 4, but Philadephia failed to score any goals. A truly dark moment in the first period for Philadephia ended up costing them the game.
