Rhynex Entertainment 485
The Lore Behind Pay to Win For our Season 96 Theme Week, we have the topic "Lore". Let's discuss about the Lore behind "Pay To Win". We always hear about the concept of F2P and P2W (Free To Play and Pay To Win). The same could also be said to exist for the VHL. But, that cannot be true right? How could there be a Pay To Win feature for the VHL? Well, there are actually two features that could potentially be equivalent to Pay To Win for the VHL. We simply know of these two features as "the VHL Donations" and "the VHL Player Store", the latter being a legal feature of the game within the game. First off, what does it mean to be Pay To Win? Pay To Win is a term that is typically used to describe people who pay or use money to build a stronger and better player in a game, in order to gain an additional advantage in said game. People are described to be Pay To Win, because they are spending to obtain an advantage over other people who are Free To Play, whom have not spent anything to enhance their player. This concept could easily be traced to our game of the VHL. We will discuss about the Lore behind Pay To Win in the VHL, featuring the use of Donations and the Player Store. Similar to how MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games), mobile games, etc where people send money to "buy" features in the games, the VHL Donations feature holds the same concept. The VHL Donations is a method we use to help maintain the VHL, just like how those MMORPGs and mobile games "sell" features in game to help make money and maintain their games. People gain additional benefits from spending real life currency to help the game evolve or simply stay alive. In our VHL, we have the VHL Donations. The VHL accepts "donations" and offers rewards for every $5 increments, up to $15. This is similar to how games accepts "purchases" and offers rewards for each feature/item/cosmetics/etc sold at each specific and specified price. With the purchasing rewards, in the VHL, people who "donated" could (and would) redeem the bonuses to enhance their respective players. These reward bonuses would give their players a slight advantage (which adds up when donations are made regularly for each season). We currently have the following "reward options" to help VHL Donations "Pay To Win"-ers receive their slight edge over the competition with Free To Play-ers: Free Week (12 TPE Capped) $1M Player Store Cash 5 TPE Uncapped Doubles Week (6 TPE uncapped from a PT being done) Now don't take it the wrong way! Donations are great, we need donators to donate to keep the VHL going and help the VHL grow, I am a sinner too in that concept as I am also a donator, just not a heavy donator. Only a casual one at that. Next we have the second feature in the VHL that could (potentially) be said to follow the same concept to Pay To Win. And the Lore behind this Pay To Win feature is actually quite interesting, more about it later. The Player Store is the second Pay To Win feature held in the VHL. And this is a feature any player could use, and may forget to use, thus is a very legal and borderline feature to Pay To Win. As a player, you are literally "paying to win" with the Player Store feature. Each player in the VHL will "earn" career contract salaries. And, VHL Donations donators could also obtain a bonus reward of $1M in contract salaries each season (of donations). With the "earned" player salaries, you can spend the salaries at the Player Store to legally enhance your player. This is a feature that some players would simply forget about and lose out on the benefits. There are many benefits featured in the Player Store to help people gain an edge over their player's competition. New people and players to the VHL even gets to purchase a few additional unique bonuses from the Player Store to help their players get an edge on the competition. The most specific and can't miss "purchases" in the Player Store are "The First Generation" and "First Gen Doubles". For new players to the VHL, these two cheap Player Store purchases are a Must Buy. "The First Generation" grants 5 TPE to first generation players (or returning members players who haven't created a player in the past 3 seasons), and this 5 bonus TPE only costs a cheap $500,000 in salary. This is One-Third of the smallest rookie contract salary! "The First Gen Doubles" lets first generation players (or returning members players who haven't created a player in the past 3 seasons) earn 6 Uncapped TPE with a Point Task (Not Welfare or Affiliate PT), and this costs a measly $1,000,000 in contract salary. A first generation, new VHL member and player could game a nice 11 additional TPE for a new rookie contract salary ($1,500,000)! Please note that a normal PT Doubles Week (6 Upcapped TPE for submission of a point task for the week) costs $2,000,000 contract salary. Everyone can purchase this at the VHL Player Store. There are many, many attractive offers at the VHL Player Store which you could purchase to help enhance your player. These include the infamous "depreciation helpers" in the form of "The 'Jaromir Jagr' ", "Still Kicking", and "Old But Not Forgotten". Each are very expensive though, but very useful. And then there is my favourite and highly recommended, "Uncapped TPE Packages". "The Upcapped TPE Packages are extremely useful at a relatively fair cost: Adds TPE distributed evenly across 5 VHL.com submissions for the season. Must be used in the season it was purchased. (No carry-over). 1 TPE x 5 / $2,000,000 2 TPE x 5 / $3,500,000 4 TPE x 5 / $6,000,000 "The Uncapped TPE Packages" are a very good use of earned contract salaries throughout your player's career. And they are very easy to accommodate since VHL.com submissions are relatively short and easy to complete. But not to worry if you forget to make these legal purchases from the Player Store. Your player could still be wonderful and good without them. qripll 503
Would be cool if you counted the difference between consistent 10 season donator (max donates ceiling) and average user Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/152744-the-lore-behind-pay-to-win/#findComment-1043611 Share on other sites
