  • Beketov changed the title to Founder's Cup Finals: Game 5

GAME RECAP:
OTT 3, MIS 2 - F

MIS leads series 3-2.

With their backs against a wall for the second time in the VHLM finals, the Ottawa Lynx have found a way to win another game. With their game four victory in overtime on home ice, the Lynx knew taking one in Mississauga was critical. Not only did they take one from the Hounds on their own turf, they did so fairly convincingly. Ottawa opened the scoring at 15:38 on the powerplay and took that 1-0 lead into the second period where they'd extend it to 2-0 just 2:22 into the frame; both Lynx goals were beautifully set up by Brandon Petan Jr.

Enter Yolishev, OConner and Bardownski. With the Lynx's Jokinen in the box for hooking, Yolishev (from OConner and Bardownski) would find twine just eight seconds into the powerplay to reduce the two goal deficit to one. Roughly ten minutes later, while the Lynx were killing another penalty, the Hounds would tie the game at 2-2 when OConner (from Yolishev and Bardownski) finished a quality tic-tac-toe play on the powerplay for their second specialty team tally on the night. Unfortunately, heading into the third with momentum yielded no results, and the eventual game winner was scored by Brandon Petan Jr in a spectacular recovery on the lose puck he deflected wide of the net.
