Peace 1,562
GAME RECAP: MIS 4, OTT 3 (OT) MIS wins series 4-2. That's all she wrote! The Ottawa Lynx took the game to overtime, but an undisciplined penalty at 16:34 would give the Hounds the opportunity to seal their championship victory roughly 1 minute 40 seconds later. As the Lynx's home crowd loudly protested the goal, the Founders Cup was brought onto the ice and the award ceremony commenced. You could tell by the disappointed faces that Ottawa had this in the bag, all the momentum indicated that the Lynx's pressure would result in a goal, yet it didn't. It took all but one quick play on the powerplay to change the outcome Ottawa was working so hard to achieve. The play developed as the Hounds entered the neutral zone, followed quickly by a shot from Kovalenko that rebounded into the boards. Bardownski would collect the puck after a battle, moved into firing position and wired a shot past Trunov to win the game. It was over just like that. Before then, though, the game was a classic back and forth battle. Mississauga would open the scoring 9 minutes and 6 seconds into the first frame on Sidney Shepperd's first goal of the post season, and Ottawa would respond with a powerplay goal at 17:40 when Joel Jakob potted their eighth of the playoffs. The Lynx would climb into a 2-1 lead with another powerplay goal scored by Masa Akimoto less than a minute into the second period, but Sidney Shepperd tied the game at 2 a piece with their second of the contest. OConner would give the Hounds a 3-2 lead roughly ten minutes into the third period, and like a good back and fourth hockey game, Ottawa would tie the game when Brandon Petan Jr - hero of game five - scored the Lynx's lone 5-on-5 goal roughly thirty seconds later. The game would be tied 3-3 heading into the overtime. ace_five_ and OblivionWalker 1 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/153165-founders-cup-finals-game-6/#findComment-1045515 Share on other sites
