Harry Callahan - Toronto legend

Recommended Posts

When I started my media spot this morning, I had all intentions of writing about Logan Ninefingers and how much of a stud he has been for Vancouver, but someone stuck out, and  not on Vancouver. I dug into this player’s stats for a little bit and then decided to write about the Toronto Legion, legendary right wing, Harry Callahan. Callahan has snuck up the ranks and is the leader in points as of today after 62 games. What sets Callahan apart from other players is that he has been a consistent point scorer throughout his career in the VHL, and being a star is nothing new for Harry.

Before I break down his scoring stats I’m going to look at his build because he is; like several others that I’ve noticed, who have a high scoring and assists with a relatively low passing attribute. So starting with checking, Callahan does not seem to be too much of a brute, which is consistent as he does not block very many shots and has a checking of 66. Getting into the passing, skating, shooting attributes, it looks like when Callahan has the puck he prefers to skate rather than shoot or pass. Scoring is at a 90 and passing at 66 with skating at a 91. But when you look at it further, it’s clear that the combination of the three, plus maybe adding in puck handling to go with these numbers, you get a really solid build for a player.  This player is a genuine team player who creates a lot of opportunities for assists as well as getting the puck into the net a number of times throughout the season.

Now for season 97 after 62 games, Callahan has racked up 96 points and with 10 games to go he is on pace to break last season‘s record and score 111 points this season. Thus far he has 44 goals and 52 assists. Which is quite admirable for a right winger on Toronto. Last season was the only season that Harry Callahan scored more goals than he did assists, which was 55 goals to 52 assists. In season 95, Callahan maintained a top scoring history with 105 points, 50 of those being goals and 55 being assists. Season 94 was Callahan’s slowest season per se as he only scored 99 points. No, this is not a clerical error, Callahan scored 39 goals and 60 assists in season 94, and this indicated that there was a transitional phase going on with Callahan‘s build, and that probably had the impact of his low scoring to high assist ratio. And then in season 93, Callahan scored 104 points 68 of them being assists and 36 being goals. So at season 95 it appears that Callahan adjusted his build to create a more balance player, which provided Toronto with another All-Star forward.

In the end, what does all of this mean for Harry Callahan and the Toronto Legion? It’s quite obvious to me that Harry Callahan is a Toronto Legion legend and is going to make an incredible Hall of Fame inductee. Callahan is in his last season with Toronto and he will be retiring at the end of season 97. As a first GEN player Harry Callahan is an amazing creation.

And with that being said, I get my 6 tpe!!

Such a turncoat!! Not sure how @Scurvy Ninefingers is going to feel about that!! Hopefully it doesn`t turn into a JT Miller & Pettersson situation leading us to trade one of you or both of you during the off-season!! 😜
