Once again, the Seattle Bear and the Vancouver Wolves faced off in the first round of the play-off and that uneasy feeling of déjà vu!! Always hopefully that we would see a different outcome. Well, after being down 0-2 to the Bears; which also felt familiar it was about trying to get back into the series and focusing on nothing else. Win the next three games and everyone must likely feel a bit more comfortable but not this experienced veteran of the rivalry between these two teams as again, it feels like déjà vu as we are now likely to lose in seven.

Fast forward a few days and yup, we lost in Seven just as that uneasy feeling projected. So, this got me thinking about all the other series in the past few seasons between the Bears and the Wolves to see if my uneasy déjà vu feeling was warranted or if it is just my coping mechanism of dealing with another early round exit.

S86 was the first time as AGM of the Wolves that Vancouver would face the big bad Bruins from the pacific coast in the wild card round of the play-offs but a bit to my surprise it was actually the Vancouver Wolves dominated and maybe even cause nightmares to the Bears since Vancouver would sweep the Bears on route to the team lifting the Continental cup.

S87 Vancouver Wolves win the Victory Cup and we all know what happens when you win the regular season right? Well, Vancouver favored much like this season faces the Bears once again in the first round and a quick painless series as the Bears won 4-1; in a shocking at the time series but now common expectations when a team lifts the cursed cup.

S88 The déjà vu series as it is three straight times these two teams have meet but with a slight change as the Bears are the favorite in the series for the first time and Vancouver is out to repay the past two season early exits. Well, that didn`t happen as the Bears would once again win the series 4-2 as they would march to the Continental Cup finals against London United.

S90 And the last season for while due to Vancouver entering a rebuild actually seen the Wolves get the upper hand on the bears in the Wildcard round before being eliminated in the next round by Toronto Legion.

Fast forward to this season and it looks like history is repeating itself as Vancouver off the back of Continental cup faces the Bears to be up end in seven games so some slight differences but if I am correct Vancouver will be seeing the Bears again next season…

Why is it always the F*** Bears!!

Stats:

14 Seasons as AGM:

4 Season no Play-offs

3 Finals

2 Continental Cups

5 Series against the Bears (2-3 record)
