Rashford Officially Retires

He knew the day was coming, he had done for a long time. Still, it did not make the day any easier. David Rashford is officially retired from the VHL - never to step foot on the ice again. It was a painful ending to an interesting career, losing a heart-breaking game 7 in the Conference Finals. Rashford really wanted to win a 2nd cup with Moscow, but some bad playoff luck meant that it wouldn't happen. Still, for an unsigned draftee he couldn't have done anymore in his career. Let's take a look and see where he nets out all time for the Menace:

  • 5th all time in Points
  • 4th all time in goals
  • 7th all time in assists
  • 5th all time in playoff goals

Pretty ridiculous given how he started his career. Add in a few individual awards, including an MVP as voted by the players, a couple of Victory Cups and the all-important Continental Cup and you have someone who may not be a hall-of-famer, but certainly made a case for the hall-of-very-good, and is a slam-dunk for hall-of-surprisingly-good! Rashford is sad to be leaving Moscow but is looking forward to what the future holds. Rumour has it, his youngest cousin might make a splash in the VHL, so perhaps Rashford has a reason to stick around and still keep up with the league.
