badcolethetitan 1,010
An actual prediction of the S98 VHL Standings and more NA Conference 1) New York Americans (6-4-1) Star players: George Richmond, Callum Gary Yannick Janser, Guntis Gavilrovs, WWWWWW 2) Toronto Legion (6-4-2) Star players: Andrew Skilton, Raimo Tuominen, Konstyantyn Shevchenko 3) Calgary Wranglers (5-4-2) Star players: Adi Dassler, YaBoi Oven, Spider Panda 4) Seattle Bears (5-4-1) Star players: Eric White Jr, Forum Content, Lazlo Holmes, Giorgiy Costanov 5) D.C. Dragons (6-4-2) Star players: Brandon Petan Jr, Leif Reingaard -- 6) Los Angeles Stars (6-3-2) Star players: Wally Lose, Roger Eagles 7) Vancouver Wolves (4-3-1) Star players: Entire roster essentially #8 Chicago Phoenix (5-0-2) Star players: Joshua Schwarzer, Ryan Artyomov (had to use #8 over the 8 ) as it becomes an emoji) Description: Oh man, we've got a spicy NA this time around. At the top I feel like it's fair to say that for the regular season, the New York Americans and Toronto Legion should be the best. They've got complete rosters on paper and they're most likely going to create some separation between themselves and the rest of the teams. This is a prediction for the regular season and not playoffs, so keep that in mind. Calgary and Seattle I feel like should probably make it in as well, as although they don't have complete rosters, they're almost full and will be able to add at the deadline most likely. The 5th spot is the most interesting, because you've got a team like DC or LA who has almost, or has, a complete roster, while Vancouver is running a very heavy TPE lineup but will have holes everywhere. Vancouver is putting all their eggs into one basket, hoping their top lane can basically carry them every game and the bots don't get scored on much. At last we have Chicago and it shouldn't even be close, they don't have a defenseman and should basically get ran over every game. Chances to make playoffs: NYA: >99% TOR: >99% CGY: 75% SEA: 70% DC: 50% LA: 30% VAN: 20% CHI: <0.1% EU Conference 1) HC Davos Dynamo (6-4-2) Star players: Antonia Bucatini, Gianfranco Del Rocco, Felicia Hardy, Mina 2) Moscow Menace (6-3-2) Star players: Jarmo Ruutu, Maverick Goncalves, Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage, Jillian Woods 3) Helsinki Titans (6-5-2) Star players: Grimgor Ironhide, Phillip Rave, Jorgen Lovstrom 4) Riga Reign (6-4-2) Star players: Kimi Raikkonen, Axle Gunner, Severus Targaryen, Red Panda 5) Prague Phantoms (6-4-2) Star players: Erik Thorvaldsson, Matteo Stefano, Lucy Leitner -- 6) London United (7-3-2) Star players: Alagsantere Groenvold 7) Malmo Nighthawks (6-2-1) Star players: None #8 Warsaw Predators (3-1-2) Star players: None Description: It's good to see this time around a lot of EU teams actually buying and trying to make playoffs. Last season, Prague was able to slip into the playoffs with 48 points and it seemed that was the trigger to get a ton of teams to start competing. At the top, I feel like Davos and Moscow have a bit of a gap on the other teams in terms of raw firepower and roster building. They should be towards the top, kind of like NA where they should be a playoff team almost 100%. As for the next couple teams, I think there's a very good argument for Helsinki, Riga, and Prague to all get into third place and avoid the wild card game. All these teams are fairly close in skill and it's just going to come down to the sim at the end of the day, but I think they should all make the playoffs. Up next, we have London who is really the only team that could end up potentially knocking a team out of the playoffs, but with no real star player and a younger roster, I think they'll have to wait another season before getting in. Then you have Malmo and Warsaw who are at the bottom and not really looking to compete, instead competing for first overall. Warsaw by far has the worst roster in the league and will most likely have the best chance to secure the puck. Chances to make playoffs: DAV: >99% MOS: 95% HSK: 90% RIGA: 90% PRG: 85% LDN: 10% MAL: <1% WAR: <0.1% League Tier-List: S-Tier (Contenders): New York Americans, Toronto Legion, HC Davos Dynamo, Moscow Menace A-Tier (Playoff team): Seattle Bears, Calgary Wranglers, Helsinki Titans, Riga Reign, Prague Phantoms B-Tier (Playoff hopefuls): Vancouver Wolves (someone save this team) C-Tier (Mid): London United, Los Angeles Stars, DC Dragons D-Tier (Not good currently): Malmo Nighthawks F-Tier (Tanking and not trying to win): Warsaw Predators, Chicago Phoenix Top 5 Skaters: 1) Maverick Goncalves Short Description: In my eyes, Goncalves is the best player in the league. He is coming into his fourth season and already looks to be a HOF player for the Moscow Menace. As long as he continues to produce around what he has been doing, he should be the best player in the league. I think there's a couple players that could maybe play better than him due to the team they're on, but hands down Goncalves is the best. 2) Logan Ninefingers Short Description: Ninefingers will have his hands full this season, but because of the players he's playing with, I could honestly see him not being a top five player at the end of the season. He's going to be with players who are equal to his skill or slightly worse, meaning a lot of his points will be drained away and he won't have a crazy season. He should still be 100+ points, but I don't think he'll crack much over 100. 3) Antonia Bucatini Short Description: Bucatini is coming off a 100 point season and should be one of the main driving forces with Del Rocco on this team. They're going to play off each other and there isn't too many cooks in the kitchen, I could see Bucatini winning some awards, or Del Rocco. They're both exceptional players and 100+ points should easily be within Bucatini's reach. 4) Gianfranco Del Rocco Short Description: You could flip flop Bucatini and Rocco if you want, because they're going to be one of the best duos in the league. They're extremely talented and honestly, like Bucatini, a 100+ point season should be expected. This duo should be able to carry Davos far and if they don't, you're gonna be scratching your head asking some questions. 5) Jillian Woods Short Description: The first defenseman on this list, however, justified for sure. Jillian Woods is going to do a lot of heavy lifting for the Moscow D core, as they've only got three defenseman currently. Regardless, Woods has some great forwards and I could easily see Woods in the 90-100 point mark, maybe even dropping 100+. I don't think it's unrealistic to say so and that should be their goal. Top 3 Goalies: 1) Jorgen Lovstrom Short Description: I think it's no doubt that Lovstrom currently is the best goalie in the league, especially since his performance last season. He's going to have to put up crazy numbers this season as his D core is weaker, but Helsinki is relying on their goaltending to be able to shore up the weaknesses on defense. 2) WWWWWW Short Description: WWWWWW has a very high chance at bringing home some hardware this season, with a very good D core with Janser and Gavilrovs. The only issue is that he might not see them too much, as they're going to take a fair amount of penalties. Regardless, WWWWWW already is one of the best goalies in the league and this season he's got all the tools to win it all. 3) Soju Short Description: Soju will have his hands full and this guy might put up some absolute insane numbers. I mean, he's got a decent forward core, but he essentially is doomed on defense and will have to put up numbers we've never seen before to make the post-season. I think if he does this, he will be a lock for GOTY. Team with biggest "Boom" factor: D.C. Dragons: The Dragons have quietly built themselves a full roster, which not many teams have been able to do. Are they stacked with talent, no, but they've got players to be able to play up and down the lineup as needed. NA currently has a lot of teams without full rosters and DC could find themselves in a wildcard spot if the sim goes their way. Who knows, after that they could end up buying and making some noise in the playoffs if team's are willing to sell for cheap. Team with biggest "Bust" factor: Vancouver Wolves: This team literally could be the story of the off-season. I mean, they've got a bunch of star players but are strapped with cash and are forced to run an incomplete roster. Either this team slides into playoffs and it is kind of expected, or they miss and they're essentially screwed. They need to sell off a top player somewhere so they can fill out the rest of their roster, but who knows. Maybe they wait till TDL to make that move and are hoping to stay in the race until then. 1500+ words Edited March 12 by badcolethetitan ace_five_, Xhekityb123, dstevensonjr and 11 others 10 4 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/155521-an-actual-prediction-of-the-s98-vhl-standings-and-more/ Share on other sites
badcolethetitan 1,010
Oh also, there is a bunch of great skaters/goalies that weren't on this list. This is 100% opinionated. There is no "facts" or "research" backing it up. Maybe I should've made a "top 5 forwards/top 5 defenseman" instead as it's very hard to put a ton of defenseman over forwards sadly. I just didn't want to clutter and put a million spaces on the screen as I did that in the past and it would go on for ages. Yeah, I can seem long, but I think what is added in length is made up for by making the wording less stressful and overwhelming to the eyes, adding breaks almost psychologically adds a place to rest I feel. Idk, I don't mind length (sus), lol. Since I actually like this article I actually might do a real review for TPE. Question, are the records what you expect in the opening 10 games? No, the records are the forwards-defenseman-goalies for each team (the count of how many there is).
