The theme week should stay

I think it is important to keep in mind that those who complain about the theme week are users who usually earn their TPE through writing or doing podcasts. Why is that? It is of course a lot harder to write and talk about topic x than making a graphic with one type of player - for example enforcer/tough guy, and then finding a VHL player's name to slap on top of the picture.  The topic of this season's theme week is a lot easier for the graphic audience, usually most theme week topics are.

 

If you want to change the theme week, start by removing pension completely and dropping welfare to 3 TPE. I am willing to bet that almost automatically the theme week starts to appear a lot nicer - no matter what the topic might be. "But what about the skill difference between welfare users and the actives?" - Who cares? Do the point tasks and be the starter / in the  first line / pairs, or don't do the point tasks and CONTINUE being the backup /  in the second lines/pairs.

 

The suits wonder why users around VHL tend to complain about the theme week, but at the same time, they are more than happy to hand out free TPE every week to those who can't do even the normal/simple point tasks. It is about time even some effort is seen as valuable, and that starts by reducing the rewards for doing very little.

We’ve debated pension before so I’m not going to go down that rabbit hole again but I would say that your first paragraph has merit in the sense that the “oh but they pick the shittiest options” people tend to forget that graphic people exist and some topics are straight up impossible for graphics. We have had dozens hit the cutting room floor over the years because they were only possible for people writing or doing podcasts. Themes need to be possible for all 3.
