Chicago Phoenix forward Joshua Schwarzer @Velevra has recently tied a record. The record in question? Most shots blocked by a forward in the hybrid era.

The 6'0 200lb winger has so far blocked a league leading 140 shots in just 51 games. The last time this number was seen was when Calgary Wrangler forward Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser  also blocked 140 shots in S83. Janser finished his season 22nd is shots blocked across the league, while Schwarzer is currently leading the entire league. With 21 games left in the season, Schwarzer has the opportunity to run away with this record, potentially even setting the record for shots blocked by a forward throughout the history of the VHL, although the records are unclear.

It will be interesting to see how the awards panel judges his season, will they see it for the record-demolishing season it has been? Or will they discredit it due to how bad the Chicago Phoenix have been all season? Only time will tell.

I say with a +/- well above his team average and a reasonable amount of hits, strong Boulet consideration is very warranted despite the team struggles. It's not the "best Two-Way forward on a playoff team award" after all. Great analysis @Nykonax
