DollarAndADream 3,357
Throughout the season, the Meute have come out of the gates on fire and have been gunning for the number one spot in the league. Staying on pace with the top seeded New York Americans, Quebec City has quickly established themselves as one of the teams to beat this season. They have remained consistent throughout this stretch of the season and look to keep having that success in the long run. Going forward, it will definitely be a challenge for them to continue at this pace with the upcoming changes to the team. Recently the Meute have dealt one of their depth forwards, and a very skilled centreman being Konstantin Azshishchenkov. KJA has been a scoring threat for most of their games so far and is a top 20 player in the league. He sits 3rd on the Meute in scoring and has helped the team stay consistent during their season's run. Losing a player like KJA is not an easy occurrence to get over, but every top team faces their own challenges down the road to glory. Although Azshishchenkov is now on the Riga Reign, one would have to believe that the Meute have the personnel to cover the hole that he has left behind. ------------------ ------------------ One player that will have to take much more responsibility comes to mind immediately, and that is centerman Travis Boychuk. Since arriving in Quebec City he has been slotted in on the wing, not playing in his native position at center. Boychuk will be taking the reigns on the second line for his team, and will have to overcome the challenge of doing that. It will be interesting to watch and see if Travis Boychuk will be able to handle a big role much like he did in Calgary as a Wrangler. One would have to believe that he may flourish doing just that, but it remains to be seen. Many analysts see Boychuk as a better player than KJA, yet he seems to have had his own struggles in Quebec as the russian has out-performed him. (Boychuk having over 100 TPE more than KJA) This is not to say that Travis has been disappointing in any regard, as he still remains at a point-per-game pace. All this being said, the centerman has taken some time to answer a few questions in a little bit of an interview: Interviewer: With a huge piece of your line gone, how do you expect to handle the pressure going forward? TB: It will definitely be a difficult task at hand to take that load left by Konstantin, but I have handled harder things in the past. It is sad to see him go as we've known each other since our Ottawa Lynx days, but trades can't be too surprising in professional hockey. Interviewer: Your team has stormed out of the gates, so to speak so far in this season. What are your feelings towards answering your doubters? TB: All of us in the locker room know what kind of talent we have on the squad here in Quebec. We all believe in each other and that is all that matters. I somewhat expected a little more time to get adjusted to the lines here, but for me it has not seemed to impact the team with the way our top line has been playing. If Bruno and Aksel keep playing the way they are, I can take all the time I need to find chemistry. ------------------ ------------------ Interviewer: What are your thoughts on the Calgary Wranglers as of now? They are not that far behind the Meute in the standings. TB: It is definitely surprising to me, considering I was traded with the thoughts that they weren't heading in the right direction. They acquired some good assets giving me up and some other factors have made a big impact on their team. It is definitely nice to see that city having a strong year and it's only good for competition. Interviewer: To end the interview, where do you see the Meute at season's end? TB: I believe this team can win it all. Even with KJA on the outs, we still have manpower to beat the best in the league. With the right tooling in the lineup we can still perform how we have been. Travis Boychuk and the Quebec City Meute will be a compelling story to follow heading towards the playoffs. The question remains if Boychuk can take his game to another level back in his preferred position.
