VHLSC: S43 Rankings #2 - New Additions

Welcome back to the draft rankings everyone! Before we get into the think of things we should let you know a few things. To explain the fine facts of this draft here is an infographic!

 

 

Before we go on I should note that MS Paint never looked so good! Alright so this week we've had many storylines pick up speed and that excites us at VHLSC because it makes for a much more interesting draft journey. The first thing of note is the addition of seven new prospects who declared eligible for the 43rd VHL Entry next off-season. That brings our grand total to 31 prospects and guaranteeing us at least three rounds of draft selections. However, keep your eyes peeled because prospects have until the trade deadline to declare themselves eligible for entry draft. Moving on, we are blessed with 25 first generation prospects who will be looking to knock down the doors of the VHL professional ranks. All 25 of these prospects have guidance and are looking to make noise with the big boys at the top of the rankings.

 

Last season we mentioned that the centre position was the most deep of any, this year it's a little different. This year we get the honour of having 12 prospects who declared so far at the defensemen position. With defensemen being considered a very slim position in regards to depth at the VHL level, it is no surprise to see so many. Two of the top five prospects are defensemen which bodes well for any VHL team looking to add a rear guard.

 

Another point is the gap between players at different positions. The largest gap in TPE (Total Practice Hours) is 146, it is the gap between Hans Wingate and his closest competitor at the goaltending  position; Not Active. Expect to see that gap range as it appears Not Active and Holy the Goalie may not be in it for the long haul.

 

 

Up

 

Josh Merica [LW] - The outspoken forward is one of a few who have risen this week in the rankings and provided us with more intriguing storylines at the top half of the draft. Merica has been steadily increasing his skill set each week and currently is the highest ranked left winger.

 

Franklin Romanowski [D] - Romanowski has jumped the board by one spot this week after seeing his production in practice hours increase. Franklin could be a possible lottery pick given his position and ability to advance his game.

 

Theo Matsikas [D] - Another one of our defensive prospects who has been progressing and sees himself in a early second round draft position. If Theo can keep this up he may overtake more in next weeks rankings.

 

Kewl Runnins [D] - Kewl Runnins enjoyed the biggest jump this week, although it is a skewed statistic as he leaped over prospects who were MIA. Runnins does intrigue us though as his desire to be better seems to be there, even at the tail end of the rankings list.

 

Down

 

Thomas Duddy [LW] - Duddy gets the unfortunate week were he progresses but everyone around him out progresses him. Thomas went down the charts by three spots and he needs to pick his socks up or the prospects behind him may pass him every week.

 

Pablo Escobar [D] - Escobar is another gem of a prospect, unfortunately he is down two spots as prospects behind him made up some TPE and some. This isn't a sign of things to come though, as we believe Pablo will start to rise the charts.

 

Jorma Ruutu [LW] - After a very good week last week, Ruutu was flying high and we though he would be one of our best prospects. This week he did produce, but not as well as we'd hope and he fell down the chart a couple spots.

 

Dan Humphrey [LW] - Humphrey did well last week as a new entry on our rankings. This week though he didn't do anything and is still at that starting point he was last week. He dropped down five spots on the rankings.

 

 

Next edition we hope that draftees pick up their game and we get tons of movements for the better. If you feel you were wrongly presented in the rankings and write ups, don't complain; just shut me up by earning that sweet sweet TPE.
