Jamie 438
A TALE OF TWO BROTHERSBronson Faux was born on February 29th in Montreal, Quebec. Being a leap year baby would make him only 5 years old right now, when in actuality he just turned 21 years old. His two loving parents were Pierre and Chantal Faux. Both were raised in very active sports families and they both played professional sports in their younger years. Pierre was part of a curling team and while he never competed on an international level, he did win provincial tournaments and played for the Quebec team in national curling events. Chantal started her sports career very young and was competing in professional women's tennis at just the age of 16. She never won any major events but competed for 10 years before she decided it was time to retire. The two of them met up and decided to continue their lives in sports and opened up a small sports shop in Montreal.Pierre and Chantal had their second and final kid just one year after Bronson, they gave birth to another beautiful boy; Marcel Faux. The two kids grew up very close and were very competitive. Age 2 was when Bronson strapped on his first pair of skates and Marcel was not too far behind once his older brother did that. They picked up hockey very quickly, and while they were privileged enough to play other sports like soccer and baseball, they always came back to hockey. Every chance they had these two had a stick in their hand. Whether it be playing mini sticks in the basement, shinny on the pond or ball hockey in the street, they practiced as much as they could to be the best as they could when they stepped on the ice. Most brothers growing up constantly fight and get into arguments but end up always being there for each other. These two were always there for each other but were inseparable. They were best friends through everything. They played hockey together through all of minors and were best friends in school too even though there was a year between them. Other friends came and went but the two of them never grew apart at all. It wasn't until Bronson went off to play major junior hockey that they got separated but that's for a later point in time.Off the ice Bronson and Marcel were inseparable and on the ice was not a different story. The two played on a line together for their whole playing career in junior hockey. Bronson being the bigger older brother always seemed to put up better number and be talked more highly of but that's not to doubt Marcel's skill at all. Bronson played centre and was always looking for his younger brother on the wing who seemed to find the twine more often than not. They put up unbelievable numbers together and were a coach's dream. The chemistry between the two just couldn't be beat and no matter who played with them on a line, that was one of the top lines in the league. At ages 17 and 16, a tragedy happened to the Faux brothers. They were in the finals of the playoffs in probably the biggest game of their careers thus far. Their parents were going to be late but still make the game half way through. At the end of the 2nd period it was a tie game and Pierre and Chantal were nowhere to be found. The boys were pulled aside by their coach and informed that their parents had been involved in a car accident. They were on their way to the game when a drunk driver had ran a red light and t-boned their vehicle. Their father was killed on impact and their mother passed in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. The boys didn't know what to do and just sat silent in the dressing room. The team went on to lose and both boys didn't play hockey again for a little while. The brothers moved to Toronto to live with their only uncle in a small town house. If anything the death of their parents brought them closer together as they along with their single uncle were the only immediate family they had left. They didn't continue their hockey career even though they were highly touted and scouted players. Bronson and Marcel stuck to themselves and finished school then began to work at their uncle's pizza shop when they graduated. One day a couple years later they were approached by one of the scouts that had been watching the two. He asked if they'd still be interested in pursuing a career in hockey and gave a business card to let the two think it over. After a long thought process they decided they would give it a try.The two brothers started playing hockey again after some tryouts in a Junior C hockey league. It took them awhile to get back in shape but they found their game and chemistry quickly. Bronson declared for the VHLM Dispersal Draft not too long after. He was selected 6th overall by the Brampton Blades as their top centre and was named captain as well. Still living at his uncle's, he continued to train with his brother Marcel as he continued to play junior hockey. Of course the dream is for the two of them to eventually play pro hockey on the same team, on the same line but right now that isn't the main priority. Bronson is touted as one of the top prospects in the S43 VHL Entry Draft. Marcel is planning to pursue pro hockey but he is currently unsure of which league he'd like to play for. He could declare for the VHLM Dispersal Draft for the next upcoming season and be drafted into the VHL just one season after his older brother, or he could go elsewhere. Either way it's a good thing to see that both Bronson and Marcel Faux were able to get back into the sport they love and pursue a career in it. We will follow along these two young forward's careers and see where it takes them.
