Ramicus 147
Venice of the North: THE NEST George “The General” Patton was a man on a mission. At least, he had been back on the 22nd of February, when we last heard from him. Now he was a man who was sort of tired of just standing around. That wasn’t the point, though. The point was that The General had a mission, and that the aforementioned mission had brought him to a medium-sized building in a fairly small city in Sweden. The city was Vasteras, the building was the ABB Arena Nord, former home of the Stockholm Vikings, known here as Vasteras IK and the Vasteras Iron Eagles. The building looked just as it had since the first season of Victory Hockey League play, over forty seasons ago. It had never been a particularly nice arena from the outside, and it wasn’t looking any better now. Closer inspection would have revealed that there was a broken window off to the side, but George “The General” Patton wasn’t paying all that much attention to the state of the windows. It was an unoccupied building, what was to be expected? The real surprise came once the lock was broken and The General and Cherry Baxter had gotten inside. The lights were flickering or off, shattered glass all over the floor. Doors were hanging off their hinges, and the hallways were full of scorch marks and debris? What could possibly have happened here to cause all this? The General continued on to find out. Once George “The General” Patton got out into the main sections of the area, things started to get really weird, and The General was very happy to have spent his time training in Havana, Cuba, future location of a brand-spankin'-new American embassy. The floor, once home to decent hockey, had a large crater in the center, and a slew of M's carved with a rapier (which is a kind of sword, not a person who does stuff to women against their will). It was, all in all, a mess. The General was very confused. Who could have done this to the medium-sized building in the fairly small city in Sweden? Who hated Vasteras hockey this much? It was, after all, just a hockey arena. And here there were birds in the rafters (but were they really birds? Only time will tell!) and craters in the floorboards. George Patton was still standing there and staring down when a man in a fancy blue costume appeared, rapier (still the sword) in one hand and a grenade in the other. “¡Viva el Trueno!” The shrill, accented voice of the man in the blue outfit rang out throughout the building, echoing and disturbing the birds. Then, without another sound, he pulled the pin with his sword and tossed the grenade up toward the rafters. The feathers floating down from above told George “The General” Patton that perhaps it was time to call in some reinforcements, and out came the cellular phone.
