Jala 922 Posted May 12, 2015 Share Posted May 12, 2015 Giovanni Reuel - RW Giovanni Reuel hails from Italy, but moved to his parents' native Germany to kick off his hockey career. Reuel played one season with the Berlin Junior Polar Bears before jetting off to Canada to play in the QMJHL with the Rimouski Oceanic. A very late bloomer, Reuel didn't even lace up skates until he was 14, but developed very quickly in Rimouski after some early bumps in his QMJHL career. Reuel is a slight 5'11" and 198 lbs., but what he lacks in size he makes up for in speed and agility. A very nimble skater and elusive as a fox, Reuel makes it difficult for opposing defenders to contain him and utilizes his size and speed to his advantage. Don't let his stature fool you though, because Reuel is a voracious fore-checker and has a temper. While he has simmered down over the last few seasons, this is the player that was suspended for fifteen games for breaking an opponent's ankle with a slash. Giovanni Reuel is a magician with the puck and his ability to dangle through an entire team has been witnessed on quite a few occasions. A superb two-way threat, he utilizes his speed and natural talent to both score and stop goals. Reuel is like a blood hound when it comes to loose pucks and is very aggressive with his stick. He uses his active stick to force turnovers and break up ice with his speed. What to Look Forward To! Giovanni Reuel will be a high octane playmaker and scorer. Look for him to threaten for the scoring title for seasons to come and to be one of the most highly sought after prospects in his draft year. This Italian Stallion is a workhorse both on and off the ice. If he's not the last one to leave practice, he's the first one to hit the film room so he can study his upcoming opposition. A truly gifted threat in both ends of the ice, Reuel will be a threat to lead the league in turnovers and scoring chances. All in all a fantastic 200-foot forward prospect who has all the tools to be successful in the league. What Not to Expect! In a word, physicality. His slight frame hinders his ability to be an effective body-checker and lends himself to being thrown around by bigger bodied players. His lack of ability to hit will certainly hinder his chances at winning the Scott Boulet Trophy, but he could push for it by performing well in the other defensive categories while maintaining a high clip of scoring. Career Prediction The sky is the limit for young Giovanni Reuel and he looks to be pushing that ceiling. It won't be a surprise if we see this man capture a Mike Szatkowski and Kevin Brooks trophy in the same season. If he continues his upward trajectory, we could be witnessing a Hall of Famer in the making.
