TheLastOlympian07 2,388
Name: Shawn Muller Position: Right Wing Number: 13 Height: 6'1 Weight: 170 Birthplace: Weilham, Germany Age: 18 Shawn Muller comes from the soccer hotbed known as Germany. Interestingly enough, his brother Thomas Muller is one of the stars of German soccer so you would think little brother Shawn would be interested in soccer too right? Wrong. Shawn Muller became interested in hockey. His love grew for hockey when he met a young Leon Draisaitl at a hockey camp in Mannheim, Germany. The two would become inseparable and their love for the sport of hockey grew as they grew older. Leon played well enough to be drafted into the CHL with the Prince Albert Raiders while Shawn would not. He stayed playing in the DNL (German Development League). While playing in his first season with Leon, Shawn would score 18 goals and assisted on 30 for 48 points in 35 games. Then he would score 5 more goals and have 5 more assists in 8 playoff games. They didn't win the league championship this year. Shortly after the season started, Leon Draisaitl was drafted into the CHL 2nd overall by the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL. In Shawn's 2nd season with the Jungadler Mannheim U18, Shawn would struggle without his best friend Leon as he scored 13 goals and assisted only on 21 for 33 points. The team would miss the playoffs all together and Shawn would move on from the team as he reached the overage limit and he was without a contract. No teams wanted to sign the young German at any level of German hockey. Shawn would then hear about a hockey league that took all comers and was also Continental which was unlike any league in the world. This league was called the Victory Hockey League (VHL for short). He heard this from none other than Christian Stolzschweiger a VHL legend. Shawn would then declare for the Season 46 VHL Entry Draft as well as the Season 45 VHLM Dispersal Draft. He would go on waivers for Season 44 and be claimed by the Bratislava Watchmen where he is playing in one of the greatest VHLM playoff series in recent memory. Pros + Scoring: Shawn Muller has a great nose for the net. He has an impeccable ability to be in the right spot at the right time to pot in a timely goal. It doesn't matter where he is around the net, he will score at any given chance. It will only get better as he gets better with age and experience. His scoring comparison is much like a young Steven Stamkos. Skating: Shawn Muller is a really fast skater. He can go from 0-60 in a blink of an eye. He will be one of the fastest players available in the Season 45 draft this coming offseason. Shawn used to play soccer as a kid as well so this helped him with his skating as he grew older. Think, Jonathan Toews in terms of skating, a nice strong stride. Puck-Handling: Shawn Muller has some pretty slick hands. The scary thing is he still hasn't reached his full potential on his puck-handling. He reports that his favorite player to watch stick-handle is Detroit Red Wing Pavel Datsyuk. Cons - Fighting: Shawn is not a fighter by any means. He doesn't like fighting and he will mostly stay away from scrums. This makes him seem like the good ol European stereotype who fares away from physical contact. I can just hear what Don Cherry has to say about this. Passing: Shawn is not a very good passer. He is usually the one who takes the passes and shoots but if he's the one trying to be the playmaker than you're going to be in trouble. He seems to panic a bit when given the puck in a non-scoring zone of the ice. My advice is to give him the puck in the offensive zone in a scoring position. Leadership: Being so young and coming into a new league. Shawn is not very high on leadership. He comes into Slovakia not knowing the language and he comes to the team as an unofficial rookie (hasn't been drafted yet). As he grows older hopefully he takes on more of a leadership role during his long VHL career. Toast 887
Overview: 2/2 - Good job on your rookie profile. You have a real interesting story for Muller, and while it's a shame that he has been separated from Leon, I'm sure he will make his own legacy in the VHLM and the VHL. Pros & Cons: 3/3 - Three for each with detail going into each of them. Looks good to me! Grammar: 2/2 - I didn't catch much, but for the sake of nit-picking minor mistakes: He can go from 0-60 in a blink of an eye. -> 0-60 what? offseason -> off-season Presentation:1/1 - Looks good to me! Overall: 8/8 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/23166-claimedshawn-muller-rookie-profile-final-88/#findComment-259051 Share on other sites
