Fauxview

The Riga Reign and Helsinki Titans are fighting for the top spot in the European Conference, which also makes it Faux vs Faux. Both these teams consist a Faux with Riga having the older Bronson Faux and Helsinki having the young Marcel Faux. The Faux’s have had success in the VHLM ranks early in their careers and now both are looking for VHL success. Marcel and Helsinki sit on top of the European Conference with a 25-8-1 record for 51 points and Bronson and Riga have a 21-11-2 record for 44 points. The European Conference is very strong this year so these two teams along with the others could be fighting for a playoff spot all season long in the European Conference. Let’s take a look at both Faux’s seasons so far, most importantly Bronson Faux.

Bronson with Riga

The Riga Reign loaded up on talent in the off-season with a new General Manager at the helm which has effected Bronson’s point totals a little bit this season. With more talent around him he’s not the main threat offensively like he was in the couple seasons prior when Riga was rebuilding. Bronson currently sits at 8 goals and 16 assists for 24 points in 34 games. That is pretty decent but not amazing. Bronson is now playing second line with Griffin Simons and Kurtis Hunter which is also probably a factor in his point totals.  As usual Bronson has ton of hits with 175 which is most of the Riga Reign and second in the entire league which is fairly impressive. Bronson is providing the Reign with a top notch physical player. If Riga make the play-offs Bronson could be a game breaker with his amazing physical presence. This physical presence has also left him in the penalty box for 79 minutes which is the sixth most in the entire VHL but that is expected with such a physical player like Bronson. If Bronson begins to find his offensive touch again, he could very well win the Best Two-Way Forward award at the end of the season. If Bronson starts producing offensively the Reign could be a massive threat to win the European Conference and the Continental Cup.

Marcel With Helsinki

Now Marcel is still chugging along with the Helsinki Titans. The younger Faux now has more points than Bronson with 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points. Marcel is still on the second line with Rookie of the year candidate Aleksi Koponen and veteran Brady Stropko who is a new addition to the line. With all the talent the Titans have upfront Marcel is a bit of an afterthought. Although he recently got his first career hat-trick which is fairly impressive for a rookie on the second line on a good team, so there’s that. One area Marcel needs to improve on is his playmaking ability. Right now he is kind of a one trick pony with his scoring prowess and the amount of shots he takes. One game he recorded 18 shots on goal with no goals! Which is ridiculous when you think about it but that’s how things go. Once Marcel gets higher on the depth chart and fixes his flaws he could be a top player for the Titans in a few seasons.

In a few weeks we will take another look at how the Faux’s are doing. Until next time, read safe!
