TheLastOlympian07 2,388
Our 4th matchup consists of Pekka Jarmuth vs Eric LaJuenesse. Without further adieu, here is the career summary of Eric. Round 3, Pick 17 - Helsinki Titans select D Eric LaJuenesse Career Awards: Season 18 Statistics: Regular Season: S18 (KOL) - 72 GP / 7 G / 36 A / 43 P / -3 / 20 PIM / 25 H / 144 SH / 1 GWG Playoffs: S18 (KOL) - 5 GP / 1 G / 1 A / 2 P / -1 / 0 PIM / 4 H / 7 SH / 0 GWG Eric LaJuenesse had a very respectable season after being drafted at the start of the 3rd round in the Season 18 VHL Entry Draft by the Helsinki Titans. He scored 7 goals and assisted on 36 for a total of 43 points. The Kolari Panthers finished 2nd in the Conference, 19 points ahead of the 3rd place Bern Royals. The also only finished 2 points behind the Gothenburg Eagles who finished 1st. Many predicted a tough series for either but then the Eagles defeated the Panthers in just 5 games. Eric scored 1 goal and assisted on 1 for 2 points in the series. It was a disappointing end to an otherwise decent season. Season 19 Statistics: Regular Season: S19 (KOL) - 72 GP / 18 G / 62 A / 80 P / +41 / 22 PIM / 46 H / 177 SH / 2 GWG Playoffs: S19 (KOL) - 11 GP / 7 G / 6 A / 13 P / -3 / 10 PIM / 18 H / 26 SH / 1 GWG The Titans brass thought Eric would need more seasoning down in the VHLM with Kolari again so off he went. He had a much better with Kolari this year scoring 18 goals and assisting on 62 for 80 points. He had the honour of playing with Ignatius Feltersnatch and Michael Angelo this year so they basically carried this team to a 2nd place finish again. In the 1st round they played the Vasteras IK J-20 and beat them in 6 games. The Vasteras team had the likes of Jaroslav Oslig, Japinder Signh and VHLM mastero Frank Ricard. What made the difference in the series was Erich Schomann was much better than Shawn Bradley. In the finals however, they fell to the Minot Gladiators who boasted future star Mathias Chouinard and had a better goalie Alejandro Messi. Season 20 Statistics: Regular Season: S20 (HEL) - 72 GP / 7 G / 49 A / 56 P / +7 / 77 PIM / 70 H / 105 SH / 1 GWG Playoffs: S20 (HEL) - 0 GP / 0 G / 0 A / 0 P / 0 / 0 PIM / 0 H / 0 SH / 0 GWG After 2 years in the VHLM, Eric graduated to Helsinki. He scored 7 goals and assisted on 49 for 56 points. He was also a +7 which is pretty good for a non-playoff team. Speaking of the playoffs, the Titans missed them by 34 points. This was surprising considering the team boasted talents like Micheal Angelo, Syd Drayson, Ignatius Feltersnatch and goalie Jakob Kjeldson. Season 21 Statistics: Regular Season: S21 (HEL) - 72 GP / 7 G / 36 A / 43 P / +38 / 130 PIM / 129 H / 84 SH / 2 GWG Playoffs: S21 (HEL) - 0 GP / 0 G / 0 A / 0 P / 0 / 0 PIM / 0 H / 0 SH / 0 GWG In Season 21, Eric regressed a little bit to 7 goals and 36 assists for 43 points. He was a +38 though so his defensive game improved. The Titans improved to the point of where they were tied for 2nd place with 86 points on the season. Due to having less regulation wins they had to sit out during post season play once again. Season 22 Statistics: Regular Season: S22 (HEL) - 34 GP / 2 G / 13 A / 15 P / +6 / 32 PIM / 25 H / 47 SH / 0 GWG S22 (VAS) - 37 GP / 3 G / 15 A / 18 P / -19 / 70 PIM / 68 H / 35 SH / 0 GWG Playoffs: S22 (VAS) - 0 GP / 0 G / 0 A / 0 P / 0 / 0 PIM / 0 H / 0 SH / 0 GWG The new season started and Eric was doing his normal job as a dependable defensive defenceman who occasionally potted a few points a game. In 34 games with the Helsinki Titans he scored 2 goals and 13 assists for 15 points. He was also a +6 with 25 hits. At the trade deadline GM Joey Kendrick felt he needed someone with more defensive presence and he traded Eric LaJuenesse to the Vasteras Iron Eagles for defensive legend Hiro Renomitsu. In the 37 games afterwards he scored 5 goals and assisted on 15 for 18 points. The season totals put him at 71 games played, 5 goals, 28 assists and 33 points. The Titans meanwhile finished 1st in the European Conference and the Iron Eagles finished 53 points behind them in 4th place. Eric would sit out of the VHL playoffs for a 3rd consecutive year. Season 23 Statistics: Regular Season: S23 (VAS) - 72 GP / 1 G / 8 A / 9 P / +2 / 10 PIM / 13 H / 11 SH / 0 GWG Playoffs: S23 (VAS) - 0 GP / 0 G / 0 A / 0 P / 0 / 0 PIM / 0 H / 0 SH / 0 GWG Eric would start fresh in his new season with a full year at Vasteras. He wound up only scoring 1 goals and assisting on 8 for 9 points. Yes that is correct 9 points in 72 games for a points per game of 0.08. This was by far one of the most embarrassing points season in recent VHL memory. Surprisingly though he was a +2. Eric also found himself in the doghouse most of the season and only played 576 minutes compared to the 1872 of the next lowest player. What a waste of a year for Eric. Season 24 Statistics: Regular Season: S24 (CAL) - 72 GP / 3 G / 17 A / 20 P / -50 / 51 PIM / 70 H / 35 SH / 0 GWG Playoffs: S24 (CAL) - 0 GP / 0 G / 0 A / 0 P / 0 / 0 PIM / 0 H / 0 SH / 0 GWG After Season 23, Eric left the Vasteras Iron Eagles and moved across the Atlantic to play in Calgary, Alberta. He improved to 3 goals and 17 assists for 20 points. On the poor Wranglers he was a -50 though. The Wranglers missed the dance by 19 points. The team had Derek Boogaard, David Vidal and Lars Intranquilo. The team should not have been that bad in retrospect. Season 25 Statistics: Regular Season: S25 (CAL) - 72 GP / 7 G / 23 A / 30 P / -100 / 63 PIM / 85 H / 66 SH / 1 GWG Playoffs: S25 (CAL) - 0 GP / 0 G / 0 A / 0 P / 0 / 0 PIM / 0 H / 0 SH / 0 GWG Coming into his last VHL season due to the 8 year rule, he scored 7 goals and assisted on 23 for 30 points. The team however was still a last place team and he was a historically bad -100. The Wranglers only won 10 games on the year and finished with 21 points which was 69 points out of a playoff spot. What a terrible way to end your VHL career. Career Statistics: Regular Season: Career VHLM - (KOL) - 144 GP / 25 G / 98 A / 123 P / +38 / 42 PIM / 71 H / 321 SH / 3 GWG Career VHL - (HEL/VAS/CAL) - 432 GP / 30 G / 161 A / 191 P / -116 / 433 PIM / 460 H / 383 SH / 4 GWG Playoffs: Career VHLM - (KOL) - 16 GP / 8 G / 7 A / 15 P / -4 / 10 PIM / 22 H / 33 SH / 1 GWG Eric LaJuenesse had a very long career. He didn't win and major awards or major team awards. He was a warm body who filled in for bad teams. He finished his VHL career with 191 points though which isn't too bad for a defensive defenseman. His best season came in the VHLM where he made it to the VHLM Finals and where he scored 80 points in the regular season. Toast 887
Content 3/3 - Jeeze, those were some rough seasons in the VHL. I didn't even know 9 points in a season was possible... or -100! I'm loving these profiles, so keep it up! Grammar 2/2 - Some comma and numbers issues but nothing worth going into detail over. Nice work! Appearance 1/1 - Formatting is fantastic!
