This was Simon Valmount’s first season in the VHL. And it has been going very well. Some people expected better but other people didn’t see the possibility of Valmount having this kind of season. To be honest, I expected a better point goal production and better plus/minus.

There’s only one game left to be played in the regular season now. Valmount’s team, HC Davos Dynamo, is a very good team. Davos is looking forward to playoffs. We locked up the last playoff spot in the EU conference. Simon Valmount played the season on the second line with Devin Sundberg and Maxime Perron. In the beginning of the season the famous Oskars Harumpf also played in the second line. Then Sundberg was put to the 2nd line, immediately after that move Simon Valmount and Devin Sundberg found crazy good chemistry. Sundberg and Valmount have also became very good friends, but sadly Sundberg will retire after this season. Valmount and the whole team wants to bring a Continental Cup home.

Now to Valmount’s season statistically (71 games in).

In 71 games Valmount is his team’s 3rd best goal scorer with 31 goals, though he has a disappointing ~8.00 shooting percentage. 386 shots, man that’s a lot. During the season he has worked on his shot accuracy and power, it has improved a lot. 31 goals and 44 assists (75 points) is not bad, that is good enough for 3rd best rookie. He has also 9 game winning goals.

When Valmount has been on ice, he has been hitting everything. His physicality and offensive production makes him a very dangerous player on the ice. Almost 300 hits (298 to be exact) is very good number of hits. You could say that this Finn came into the league with a bang! He is currently 5th in the leagues hits! The amount of hits Valmount has in proportion to his penalty minutes (106 PIM) is surprisingly good. There are many players who have less or more hits that Valmount, and they take more penalty minutes.

One disappointment is his +/-. It is only +8. Valmount has to work on his defensive game. This has definitely been a good rookie season (in some standards).

Some of Valmount’s thoughts about his season so far:

I think we have had an okay season. We have won, we have lost, but when playoffs come we will be tested and I think we have a good chance on going to the finals. In most of the playoff series we’ll play, everyone will think we are the underdogs. We’ll make that our benefit. I trust in our team. My season so far has been pretty good. I have learned and improved my game. Although, in my opinion I’m way too streaky still. I have to work on my consistency. 31 + 44 is decent, but I think I should have done better. But those 298 hits really show something about me.

Right now, what do you think about “The Trade”?

Ah, I still have kind of mixed feelings about it. But now that I think hard about it, it has been a good thing for me. I feel like I grew as a person and as a player when it happened. To be honest, I haven’t cared about how Riga has done in the season. I stayed focused on my own and on our game.

Content: 3/3 - Great summary of Valmount's season, what he did well and could have worked on!  Sounds like he has a great future as a two-way forward if he can handle not hitting so many people.  Would have liked to see a little more content, but this works.  ~570.

Grammar: 2/2 - Pretty good overall

better point goal = better point/goal (??)

Almost 300 hits (298 to be exact) is very good number of hits = is a very good number of hits

Appearance: 1/1 - Would have liked to see some color!  Like the quotes though.
