DollarAndADream 3,357
The race between Zach Parechkin and MC Hammer for top spot in goals and points is finally over. In what may come as a surprise to many, Zach Parechkin came roaring back from behind MC Hammer to score the most goals in the league, and lead in points as well. Zach did make it known that he wanted to get to 80 goals after having 78 at 70 games, but that just did not happen. He did not score a goal in his final 2 games, but he did get some points and that is what put him over the top to take that crown. " I was really gunning to try and get to 80. Obviously 78 is a great number, but that 80 milestone would have been glorious. I am not sure how many players have hit that mark, but it would have been incredible. It is definitely not all about individual awards, so I do not exactly care that much that I did not reach that mark, but since I knew how close I was, I figured I would go for it. " Zach Parechkin had 163 points. These days that is not the most amazing thing to accomplish though, as it seems like there are always players able to hit those marks in the VHLM. Hell, just last season Tim TebowGow had 185 points, and Kyle Kingma had the same in the season before. Back in S39, Tyrone Williams had 208 points. Maybe that could have something to do with the VHLM contraction and how there were more lesser teams to compete against, but for Parechkin, 163 is still the most this season and a very respectable number to achieve. He also scored 78 goals, which is more than the most goals scored last season in the VHLM, but it has been done before as well. One thing we know for sure, is that the Bern Royals are itching to get to post-season hockey and start a run at the most important thing, being the Founders' Cup. " I am really looking forward to getting into playoff form. Last season for me in Brampton, I did not get the same chance I am getting this season. This season we are a strong team and I believe we are capable of winning it all. There are easily some huge competitors this season, but we have a solid amount of depth and many players capable of scoring.
