fever95 333 Posted December 29, 2015 Share Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) Moscow On The Brink Of Elimination The Moscow Red Wolves are in dire straits in their Founder's Cup Finals best of seven series with the Ottawa Lynx, currently down three games to two. Game one was a heartbreaker for the Red Wolves, who fell 4-3 in double overtime to the Ottawa Lynx. Ottawa outshot Moscow to the tune of 46-41 in this contest, while Shawn Muller, Jory Rose, Lucas Zhukenov, and Tom Lincoln each put up two points each. Erik Hedman delivered twelve hits with Muller following closely with eight. Black Velvet led the shot blocking department with three, Erik Hedman and Tanner Hynes followed up with two blocked shots each. Artom Zhumbayev stopped 42 of 46 shots faced, finishing the game with a respectable 0.913% save percentage in a losing cause. Game two proved to be much of the same, Ottawa defeating Moscow in another close one-goal game, albeit, this one ended in regulation with a final score of 6-5. The Red Wolved managed to beat the Lynx on the shot clock in this one, 34 to 29 but still came up with the short end of the stick. Tom Lincoln led the offensive push in this one for Moscow, scoring four points while Black Velvet and Evgeny Nezhmetdinov put up three points on the scoresheet each. Erik Hedman again led the way physically, delivering eleven hits in this one while Tanner Hynes was atop shot blocks for the Red Wolves with three. Artom Zhumbayev was not good at all in this one, stopping just 23 of 29 shots, finishing with a 0.793% save percentage for the game. Game three was a different story. It was the first game in the series that did not end as a one-goal game as the Ottawa Lynx took game three by a score of 4-1. Shawn Muller and Lucas Zhukenov were the lone point scorers for Moscow, while Erik Hedman again led the hits department, delivering seven in this game. Hedman also led in shots blocks with three while Black Velvet and Tom Lincoln had two each. Artom Zhumbayev sat on the bench in this one in favour of veteran netminder, Ivars Klajums who stopped 28 of 32 shots, finishing with a 0.875% save percentage. Moscow outshot Ottawa once more, 34 to 32 in this contest but that didn`t stop Ottawa from putting a stranglehold on Moscow and a 3-0 series lead. With their backs against the wall, the Moscow Red Wolves faced a must-win situation in game four in front of their hometown crown and did not disappoint. Moscow won the game by a score of 3-1 and outshot the Lynx 29-23. Lucas Zhukenov and Shawn Muller each tallied a pair of points to lead the team, Muller also delivering a team-high seven hits. Lucas Zhukenov led in shot blocks with two and Ivars Klajums had a much better game, stopping 22 od 23 shots for a 0.957% save percentage. Earlier tonight, Moscow came out flying and it paid off as the Red Wolves have came within one game of making the series a one-game, winner takes all scenario. Moscow took game five by a score of 6-5 in triple overtime and live to fight another day. Tom Lincoln put up four assists and Jory Rose scored a hat-trick, including the triple overtime game-winner in this one as the Red Wolves outshot the Lynx 75-41 in the marathon game. Erik Hedman led the way with eleven hits and Lucas Zhukenov with eight shot blocks. Ivars Klajums stopped 36 of 41 shots, finishing the game with a 0.878% save percentage on his way to his second win in as many nights. Tomorrow night, these two teams will face off one more time with Moscow facing elimination for a third consecutive game. Can they pull out a win to force a seventh and deciding game or will Ottawa end it on enemy ice to capture the Founder`s Cup?
