WC S46 - Phone Directory Mess Leads To Accidental Call-Up For VHL Legend

Recommended Posts

When legendary center Markus Strauss surprisingly turned up for a Team Western Europe training session yesterday, the players on the team were ecstatic about the prospect of learning from one of the all-time greats. However, when Strauss started lining up alongside these players and the three Titans players at the practice noticing that their team-mate Wolfgang Strauss hadn't turned up for the practice, it became clear that things had not gone quite as planned. It turns out that a poorly updated phone directory for current and former VHL players had incorrectly dismissed Wolfgang Strauss's contact details, due to their already being a Markus Strauss in the record books. While the correct Strauss was eventually contacted, the team manager Ryan Power did allow Markus Strauss to continue to practice with the team for the day as an apology, however the 49 year old was apparently "phenomenal" in practice. He impressed so much that Power rang up the VHL offices in an effort to keep Markus on the roster, however he was shot down by VHL World Cup Dictator Ron Dayne III.

Unfortunately, this was not the only error in the phone directory as both Team Canada and Team Mercenaries found themselves calling up the incorrect player, although their players were not nearly at the level that Strauss was. Instead of calling up Shadhu Rathod Jr. to the Team Canada training camp, Team Canada GM Mitch Higgins was greeted by his older brother Shadhu Rathod I, who was drafted in Season 33. Perhaps most bizarrely of all though was the error that happened with Team Mercenaries, as Canadian hockey player Jaime Hill was wrongfully left off the roster and replaced by Northern Irish accountant Jamie Hill, who has zero experience with hockey, let alone professional hockey. We caught up with Hill to find out how Hill was faring with the training process.

"It's tough, I mean I don't exactly know what's going on in truth. They keep telling me that I need to stop icing but then when I stand still they ask me what I'm doing, so I'm kinda just trying to avoid getting the puck in general, and that seems to be working a lot better.I should probably start touching the puck more though, cause they've started asking if I'm a girl. In truth, I'm just happy to help my country out in there time of ne- Well, I guess this isn't my country because I haven't seen an Irish person yet, but, yeah they said they needed me, so I'll give it my all."
