While it hasn't been all lollipops and rainbows for the Seattle Bears of late, they had pinned their hopes on one of the VHL's elder statesmen, German winger Christoph Klose. Known for his strong ties to the Seattle area, Klose eagerly signed his one year deal with the Bears shortly after free agency opened. Even with a slow start by his standards, Klose has 7 points in his first 7 games for the Bears and he has reportedly brought a strong sense of leadership to the Bears locker room, so much so that rumors swirl that he may be named captain within the coming days.

One thing that may put the damper on those plans, however, is a recent report, published in the Seattle Stranger independent newspaper, which claims that Klose has been sponsoring, or possibly even gambling upon, a newly-formed underground bare knuckle fighting organization. Dubbed the "VHLW" by the reporter for the Stranger, @Molholt,the indication is that Klose is helping to spread the word about this dangerous and unregistered bloodsport, and has either paid for the training of a particular fighter, known only as Icicle, or has placed significant bets on Icicle's fights.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
