Can Sandro Clegane Retain World Cup MVP Trophy?

After winning the World Cup MVP award last tournament and fresh off a narrow loss to Edwin Reencarnacion for the Season 48 VHL MVP award, Sandro Clegane once again finds himself in the discussion for an MVP award. Returning once again to Team Mercenaries due to a log-jam that has prevented him from securing a Team Western Europe goalie position, Clegane has started off his World Cup campaign with a near identical save percentage to the one that saw him lift the trophy at the last tournament. However, there are difference situations from last tournament that could both help and hinder Clegane’s chances at the award. In his favour is, ironically, one of the arguments that was used against him in the Season 48 VHL MVP award in that his supporting cast haven’t produced offensively and many of their victories are more attested to Clegane’s strong play than the whole team performance. Despite playing only seven games this season, Clegane has been awarded with three first stars, the joint highest in the league and looking at the performance of the Mercenaries skaters this season supports those star awards as their top scoring skater E’twaun Delicious has just nine points, four less than any other team’s top scorer. The performance of the skaters around him though could also hurt his chances at the award; if Team Mercenaries fail to beat Team Scandinavia in the World Cup Quarter Final, it will likely take a minor miracle for Clegane to have a shot at the MVP award considering he would not have helped lead his team to a medal.

Two Player Discussion Continues

The discussion of the two player rule proposed by Molholt has continued to pick up steam and a recent poll has indicated that the majority of members would approve of the implementation. There’s a lot of ideas spinning around of how to actually implement it into the VHL; suggestions include players being able to create a second player once they get past the VHLM, having a second player that is capped, having another player that can only play in the VHLM and letting players recreate after they reach their fifth season but allowing their player to continue to his eighth season. There’s a lot of discussion still left to have before we can properly look at implementing it into the VHL (important factors such as salary cap, any required expansion and VHLM implementation have still yet to be confirmed), but some members seem adamant that they can bring the system in as soon as Season 51, which considering how long other, significantly easier ideas to bring in have taken much longer to be processed.

There is still one big concern that I have about the idea which is that I really don’t think this is going to help bring in or keep around new members.  First of all, typically when I had seen advertisements for other leagues that I had no prior knowledge of that touted “having a second player” as an option, I’ve always seen that as a sign of desperation to fill spaces rather than a neat idea to boost activity. Along with that, I still have concerns about new members coming in and struggling to break through into a meaningful position on the roster. Considering bringing in new members should really be the main focus of the league right now considering some drafts in recent seasons have seen us failing to make two full rounds, I can’t fully support an idea that I don’t think helps that in its current state, hopefully further discussion can help address that though.

I'd love to see it, but I've seen that recruitment team try stuff for over 10 seasons and I'm not seeing results.
