BluObieZ 1,125
SWC3's days in Davos seem to be numbered. Rumours are flying that the team has asked him if he was willing to to waive his ntc which SWC3 said he would for the right team. This may come as a shock that Davos asked Covington to waive and not Covington asking for a trade. Covington holds a strong hand on the team holding a NTC which will determine who gets him and it is the last year of his contract. If the team does not trade him this season it is widely speculated that Covington will pack his things and leave town via free agency. Davos GM has recently said that the lack of great prospects has forced him to make a few organizational decisions that will be hard. Dealing last year's ROTY and 2 time team captain will be hard. But it seems they see the value in the return a deal for Covington will bring. But buyer beware. If Covington does not like your team he will not waive his NTC. Also you will have to sign him. Which seems to be a task easier said than done. Covington has released the following statement "it is true my agent has be approached by the team if we would waive. I jumped at it. To be honest it's best for both sides. They build for the future and I play for a better team. What team that is, is of my choosing. I did not ask for a trade. I love Davos contrary to popular belief. Also I would have most likely signed a new one year deal to stay. My agent had no Co tact with the GM over a new contract. The only thing we got from them is permission to shop me so they can build for the future." It is popular belief that Covington will most likely go to ufa no matter what team gets him. But if it's a team that he likes then he would most likely re-sign on a year to year basis. He added "I will only sign a lifetime contract with one team" which team that is no one knows. All we know is that Covington is sure to make this process interesting and fun. Why would it be bad? I am not forcing my way out of Davos. He just realized he can get things that can help him in the future. This was only made to let people know I am available. I never asked to be traded, nor do I want to be. But if a team that I like offers something, I may just waive Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/30752-swc3-to-be-dealt/#findComment-343553 Share on other sites
