Diana Maxwell set up for success in S52

After a big draft and the hiring of a new general manager, the Stockholm Vikings are on the upswing. Adding Diana Maxwell and Essian Ravenwing through the draft will be huge for the future of the team. This duo will be very dangerous down the line, and with Atticus Von Braxton entering his prime, they'll have a solid goalie behind them to make things easier. Throw in some defenseman prospects in Nikki Kissanen, Elijah Dotran, and Misha Tobolsk, and you've got a recipe for a team that could be good in just a couple seasons.

By the time Season 52 comes around, Maxwell and several of her teammates will be in their third season. The trio of defenseman should be up in the VHL to join the Vikings by then. Maxwell and Ravenwing will be terrorizing defenses. Braxton will be at least solid in net. They should theoretically have added a couple players from the S51 draft, possibly both lottery picks, who could be up with the club by then. By this time, they could be a scary team; they won't be overly dominant by any means, but they'll be young and good. This could be an attractive combination for veteran free agents, and given how young the team will be, as well as the rising salary cap, they will have room with which to work.

I make no mention of it in this article, but Chris Miller taking over as GM is also very promising for the team's future.

For Maxwell, this is a very positive thing to see. She has high career aspirations, both in terms of individual and team success. In an ideal world, she would be able to achieve this with the Vikings, rather than having to leave the team. She could play a large role in the turnaround of a franchise that has been awful throughout the history of the VHL. Likely to be named as captain of the Vikings in her rookie season, Maxwell will embrace the role as a young leader.

Along with the Vikings being on schedule to compete in S52, Maxwell and Team USA could be going for gold during that World Cup. They likely won't make many waves in the S50 World Cup, but there is definitely promise for the team that didn't win a single game in the most recent tournament. While their S48 club featured a plethora of aged players, the S50 tournament will showcase their youth. Joining Maxwell will be Travis Gowecny, Titan Kronos, and Apollo Skye, to name a few. And I could even go on to name a few more: Kai Roberts, Shayne Gow, and AK47. These are all players from S48 and beyond. Plus they'll still have William Covington III as another solid forward.

Maxwell failed in her the first step of joining the Triple Gold Club when she and the Brampton Blades lost to Yukon in the VHLM playoffs last season. So although she'll never be able to say she accomplished that, the other two qualifications may be in her near future. But nothing is guaranteed; for now, this is all just potential. It does look good, though, there's no doubt about that.
