The scene here shifts to New York as the Americans get home ice advantage for the next 2 games. Let's see how it went.

Game 3: New York Americans 4 Calgary Wranglers 0

If you followed the first 2 games closely you would know that the Americans were in those games and for some parts owned the game much like the first two period of game 1. The first period was pretty even with Calgary actually out shooting them 10-9 despite taking 2 penalties that New York weren't able to capitalize on but they would start the 2nd on the PP due to a Alexander Sauve holding the stick penalty.

That penalty proved to be costly as Jamie Nathanson (1 G) score his first of the playoffs. Patrick Bergqvist (1 A) and Alex Young (1 A) were the men who got assists. 4 minutes later, Jamie Nathanson (2 G) scored his 2nd goal of the period. Patrick Bergqvist (2 A) and Zlatan Zanetti (1 A) got the assists on the goal. All three players got their first points of the series in this 2nd period. The shots were 16-12 for New York and the 2 period total was 25-22 in New York's favor.

The Third period was a pretty cagey affair as Lars Berger took a hooking penalty. He was not happy for obvious reasons as later the New York Americans Jordan Berglund (1 G) scored which was assisted by Patrick Bergqvist (3 A) and Zlatan Zanetti (2 A). Berger was still steaming as almost 3 minutes later he and Patrick Bergqvist fought it out to a draw. The game was put out of reach by a Nicholas Evans (1G, 2A) goal which was assisted by Rocky Stork (2 A) and Gordon Shore (1G, 1A). The 3rd period shot total was not very pretty as the Americans out shot the Wranglers 12-2 and the game total was 37-24 in favor of New York. Demetrijusz Dudek (2-1, 93 of 101, 0.921 SV%) stopped 33 of 37 shots while Alex Young (1-1-1, 98 of 106, 0.925 SV%, 1 Shutout) stopped all 25 shots that went his way. Alex Young, Jamie Nathanson and Zlatan Zanetti were named the 1st, 2nd and 3rd stars respectively.

Game 4: New York Americans 6 Calgary Wranglers 4

Here's an exciting game. It wasn't an overtime thriller like Game 2 but this one had a lot of goals. Just 19 seconds into the game, Mikka Virkkunen (2 G, 1 A) scored his 2nd goal of the series with assists going to Alexander Sauve (4 A) and Matthew Gunnarsson (3 A). At 2:34 though, Sauve took a Roughing penalty. You know what that means! Jamie Nathanson (3 G) made Calgary pay for taking that penalty. Jordan Berglund (1 G, 1A) and Zlatan Zanetti (3 A) were the men who assisted on the goals. 5 minutes after the PP goal, Mikka Virkkunen (3 G, 1 A) scored again! Rhett Gouldhawke (1 A) and Alexander Sauve (5 A) got on the score sheet. Hiro Renomitsu took a hooking penalty at 13:53. At 15:05, New York made them pay for it again when Nicholas Evans (2 G, 2 A) scored again on the PP.  Rocky Stork (3 A) and Keyvan Kljk (2 G, 3 A) got the assists. Shots after the first period were 18-10 in favor of New York.

The 2nd period started just as fast as the first with Jamie Nathanson (4 G) scoring just 44 seconds into the 2nd. Nicholas Evans (2 G, 3 A) and Matt Bailey (3 A) were the men with assists. Geno Esposito made a trip to the box for holding. You know what this means! With 20 seconds left in the penalty Calgary tied it up with Greg Eagleowski (2 G) scored with assists going to J.D Stormwall (3 G, 3 A) and Hiro Renomitsu (3 A). After being one of the players to assist on Calgary's tying goal, Hiro took a holding penalty at 18:30. Almost 30 seconds later, Zlatan Zanetti (1 G, 3 A) scored to put New York up 4-3 at the intermission. Jordan Berglund (1 G, 2 A) and Patrick Bergqvist (4 A) got the assists. Shots at the end of 2 periods were 14-10 for New York and the two period total was 32-20 for New York.

This period started out just as fast at the last two as just 9 seconds in, Nicholas Evans had a game misconduct penalty as he attempted to injure Mikka Virkkunen. Although the third had to wait until the 9th minute when Lars Berger (4 G, 1 A) scored with assists going to Matthew Gunnarsson (4 A) and Greg Eagleowski (2 G, 1 A). It was Keyvan Kljk (3 G, 3 A) who answered back 5 minutes later for New York. Jamie Nathanson (4 G, 1 A) and Geno Esposito (1 A) getting in on the assists. It was pretty close until Alexander Sauve took another penalty in the last minute of play. Patrick Bergqvist (1 G, 4 A) scored with 4 seconds left to seal the 6-4 win in the Americans favor. Matt Bailey (4 A) was the only man to assist. The period shot total was 12-9 in favor of New York and the final shot total was 44-29 for the Americans. Demetrijusz Dudek (2-2, 131 of 145, 0.903 SV%) 38 of 44 shots in the loss while his counterpart Alex Young (2-1-1, 123 of 135, 0.911 SV%, 1 Shutout) made 25 of 29 saves. Jamie Nathanson, Mikka Virkkunen and Greg Eagleowski were named 1st, 2nd and 3rd stars of the game.

Just like that we have a best of three series that heads back to Calgary for Game 5, New York for Game 6 and possibly back to Calgary for a Game 7. This series has definitely just gotten interesting.
