Smarch 3,153
Franchise on the upswing The VHL has always had its top dogs and its bottom dogs each and every season, but no other franchise has had the stigma attached to it like the Stockholm Vikings franchise. Back to the days when the team was based out of Sweden as the Vasteras Iron Eagles. The franchise came hot out of the blocks winning the inaugural Continental Cup, but after that the next forty-nine seasons have been bleak for the franchise, with more re-locations (3) than Continental Cups (1). The team has been one that free-agents stray away from and top notch prospects hope pass them over in the draft, but with a change in management things are on the upswing for the much storied franchise. Long-time New York Americans General Manager Chris Miller came over to Vikings to take over the reins of the franchise, looking to build on his impressive resume outside the big apple. Although things haven’t quite worked out in the first full year under Miller, the building blocks are starting to be put into place with the core they came away with from last off-season. Today we’ll look at the Season Fifty prospects on the roster and speculate on what the future might hold for the Vikings. RW - Diana Maxwell Maxwell was the First Overall pick in the Season Fifty VHL Entry Draft after an impressive season leading the Brampton Blades of the VHLM. Maxwell was slightly ahead of the next best prospect and the Vikings jumped on the chance to draft the young lady from Minneapolis, Minnesota. So far that choice to pick Maxwell with the top picks looks to be paying dividends for the Vikings, as he leads the lowly team in goals with twenty-six and points with forty-two. Although those numbers won’t jump off the page to many in the hockey community, Maxwell has been progressing each weak even though the process is very frustrating for management and payers at this point in the rebuild. Maxwell will need to continue to come to practise week in and week out and improve her overall game, to help carry this team going forward. C - Essian Ravenwing Ravenwing is another Season Fifty draft choice that is making his VHL debut for the Vikings this season. Ravenwing was a blue-chip prospect heading into the draft and the Vikings were more than happy to pick the past first center Third Overall in the Season Fifty Entry Draft. Ravenwing isn’t the flashy type of player offensively that Maxwell is, but he brings his own unique skills to the table. One thing that Ravenwing takes tremendous pride in is his pass first mentality, which is rare in a very selfish era of sports. Ravenwing is the ultimate team player, something that is evident from his stat sheet in his first VHL season. Ravenwing leads the Vikings in assists by a huge margin with thirty assists on the season. Ravenwing sits behind only Maxwell in points on the season with his thirty-five points in the teams’ sixty-one games. Ravenwing, like Maxwell, will need to keep up the great practise schedule to help the Vikings get over the twenty plus season Continental Cup drought. evrydayimbyfuglien 600
Review: Another nice article from you. Glad to see someone else do weekly media spots. I don't recall reading much from you prior to the 2 player things so I guess it's working? Some of the formatting and text sizes are off but that's minor. Again, keep it up!
