OSLO, NORWAY — The Oslo Storm entered the S51 VHLM Dispersal Draft with hope, and left with enough talent that could possibly turn things around for the franchise.

The S51 Dispersal Draft is one with talent available for all the teams, and fortunately for some teams, it seems a select few controlled most of these picks in a deep draft. One of these teams are the Oslo Storm, who were happy to get a talent like defenseman Grigory Kopralkov late into the second round. Kopralkov, who spent a portion of the previous season with the Ottawa Lynx, is just looking to impress before his S52 VHL Entry Draft rolls around.

“I would like to be drafted as high as possible in the VHL draft,” said Kopralkov. “For that, I must play my best game in Oslo and show that I can be one of the best players!”

Kopralkov is known for his defensive game after the last season where he showed that he could possibly run away with the shots blocked lead in the whole league if given the proper minutes and games played. So far for Oslo, however, Grigory has revealed another side of his game.

So far, through the eight games played, Kopralkov has put up six points. While it’s not as much as some players would like in the league, it is a crazy number for a player who works more on laying out the best hit than the best move to get the puck into the net off his stick.

The team is currently being led by Sid Crosby in scoring with help coming from all the lines on the team, but Oslo cannot seem to figure out a system that works for them yet. Currently, the team has seven points which is just enough to be in playoff contention in the VHLM. The team certainly won’t be accepting just nudging their way into the post-season however, and will be looking for a way to gain a lead in Europe.

“We need to find a system that works,” said Kopralkov. “There is no doubt that the guys on this team are talented. We just need to start clicking and then there is no way we’ll be stopped.”

Oslo will have to find strategies that compliment the team of players that has all sorts of player types scattered through the lines, but it seems as though Kopralkov’s defensive numbers are taking a hit from the previous season. So far, Kopralkov only has 10 shots blocked on the season. While it is enough to be one of the top defensive players on the team, it’s not at the level that Kopralkov is looking for.

With work, the Storm could be one of the top teams in the league, but it’s clear that the team is struggling to find something that will turn things around for them. While majority of the roster may be young, the Storm need to step up to the competition if they plan on being one of the top teams in the league.

Now it’s just a matter of stepping up.

Review:

Nice work here. Grammar, spelling, content all check out. Keep up the good work.  Best of luck with the blocked shots, that was always a category I had hoped to lead in but it just wasn't in the cards after my rookie year.
