jRuutu 2,464 Posted October 23, 2016 Share Posted October 23, 2016 VHLM is usually quite clean league, you rarely see players doing something extremely dangerous on purpose that could result in serious injury, but last week we saw a incident that left many hockey fans wondering and asking a question: Should GM´s who have dirty players in their team be fined and punished. I´m of course talking about the incident in Saskatoon-Bratislava game where Fabio Jokinen almost lost his eye when Judocus Dermaux from Bratislava used his fingers to do a dirty move during a fight. I´m not sure what you should call the move, but he pushed a finger in Fabio´s eye making Fabio scream in agony. That was not enough though, Fabio lost his balance soon after getting his eye poked and Judocus jumped on top of him while trying to punch Fabio all over his head. Luckily for all parties involved, the referees jumped right in, but Judocus managed to land at least few punches since Fabio´s face was bleeding. Many viewers missed the whole eye poking move at first, but videos and images of the disgusting event was published after the game was over. The big majority of the hockey world was and still is demanding a punishment for Judocus Dermaux. Total lack of respect and more importantly, extremely dangerous move. What if Fabio loses his eye? Having two eyes is quite useful when playing hockey for living. You might still be able to play with one good eye, but having two helps. The first reports of Fabio´s injury are luckily good, he should make a full recovery. The incident has also started talks about increasing the punishment for players who violate rules time after time or if a player does something that directly results in serious injury of other player. Some have even flashed the possibility of banning the player from playing in VHLM totally. Personally I think the GM of Bratislava should get some attention for this as well, its clear to me that he asked Judocus to go and take someone from Saskatoon´s bigger names out. This time it was Fabio who decided to accept the challenge to drop the gloves. He of course did not have to drop the gloves and fight Judocus, but sometimes you just have to. Fights are part of hockey, but even when fighting with someone in hockey, there are some unwritten rules, one of them is: don´t poke the other guy in the eyes. The discipline committee of VHLM is currently investigating the incident and Judocus should get a chance to defend himself tomorrow. The committee has asked him to come and talk with them, so its looking like a quite lengthy suspension. Usually they do these things by the phone and give game or two worth of suspensions. When player is asked to come and meet them, its usually for bigger suspension, we shall see what happens. Personally I´m leaning towards the ban Judocus from playing in VHLM totally and then some kind of fine or suspension for the GM of Bratislava as well. I mean nobody else from Wild even said a word about that fight, EVEN PODAROK!!! All I can see is Jokinen crying to DC of VHLM and begging them to DQ Judocus. I could cry about M.T. Power being distracted by VHLM commishes* , but I'm staying calm, so let's see if they are bunch of hypocrites or they are actually with brains.
