Yukon making deadline deals

With little hope of beating Saskatoon in the playoffs, the Yukon Rush have turned to selling rather than attempting to sign some of the new players entering the league. This comes on the heels of Xander Finn joining the Wild; if the Rush could have acquired him, they would have taken a different approach.

Instead, they managed to sign goaltender mist4ke, who was promptly traded over to Saskatoon, where maybe he can win a cheap Founder's Cup as the backup to Rhett DeGrath. Aside from Moscow and Yukon themselves, all the playoff bound teams now have a backup goalie on the roster (Bern will as soon as they sign Rubber Band, or maybe he already has). This evens things up for Saskatoon in that regard, not that it really matters at all.

Just prior to that trade, however, Yukon also sent two players to the Bern Royals, who look to be the European representative in the finals. Francis Zach Morgan, who is currently second in assists and third in points, and the freshly acquired Brock Dragonslayer were dealt in exchange for two 3rd round picks. Yukon was set to lose these two players following the season, and with no Cup aspirations for S51, it's essentially no loss for them. The 3rd round picks could very well amount to nothing, but even they just become two 30 TPE inactives, the trade is still worth it for them.
