So the Toronto Legion prepare to take on the Calgary Wranglers in the North American Conference finals. The Wranglers are resident evil in S51 VHL, having signed all of Unassisted, Tyson Kohler, Aleksi Koponen and Black Velvet in the off-season. But some might not warm much to the idea of Toronto going for a 4peat either. To the neutral, it may well be the VHL equivalent of Clinton vs Trump.

But anyway, back at the start of the season, when my protest vote for Harambe was to sign not for Cologne but for the skeleton of Toronto's 3peat team, I was almost motivated to write an article for the mag about a similar scenario Calgary was involved in. It never came to fruition and I haven't earned any TPE since then until today.

Back in S19 you see, Calgary also signed all of the league's best players in free agency. Well, maybe not quite, but having won the S18 championship with no defence, Calgary signed Matt Bailey and Ryley Dawson (and re-signed Alexander Sauve), in a move seen by many as the “Miami Heat” of the VHL. This was like 2010 so this was a relevant insult. The only other person to remember this will be @JardyB10 since we were on that Calgary team.

As it happens, Calgary beat Toronto that season en route to a record 8-1-0 playoff run. Things should be different with this cheap rip-off version though.
