Theo Axelsson has been known in his short time in the league for his hard-hitting nature.  In his two seasons in the VHL, Axelsson has recorded 577 hits.  Obviously it’s too early to predict the next six seasons, but keeping that pace over the rest of his career would give him 2,308 hits - good enough to place in the top ten in the VHL’s history.  But this season has been especially interesting statistically, and Axelsson is no exception.

Axelsson is just behind Zach Parechkin in hit totals this season, and both seem set to finish the season impressively.  Parechkin is currently on pace to beat Simon Valmount’s single-season record of 441 hits, and with 123 hits in 21 games, Axelsson will have 421 hits if he keeps hitting at this rate - good enough for fifth all-time.  This would put him in good company: right between David Smalling’s Season 27 total of 423 and Leeroy Jenkins’ 414 hits in S26.  But it’s not even a third of the way through the season - is it too early to predict the future?  Will the hit totals, along with the point totals of players like Sleeman and Skovgaard, fall to make this a less exciting season?  Whatever happens, it seems Theo Axelsson may be primed to take over the throne of top two-way forward after John Sleeman and Zach Parechkin call it quits.
