Lebedev returns; Legions are set for cup

Sunday, 1.6.2014 / 2:47 PM

Nikita Lebedev was destined to be a great offensive force for the Toronto Legion but, soon enough that all went down the drain once the top six right wing disappeared. Management quickly grew distress as their first round pick was no longer attending weekly training nor practices, it seemed like the city life grew too much for the young Russian. The team moved on without him and continued to play without his presence resulting well for the team. Management decided to change things up as the team was yet without a cup for six straight seasons, the General Manager position was handed over to Jack Edgar who was not reluctant to pull the trigger when given offers as he executed on four trades this past off-season. Edgar was bringing in great talent quickly which led many to believe this Legion team was one of the best we've seen in nearly a decade.

With one of the best goaltenders in the league, if not the best goaltender, Remy LeBeau has led the Toronto Legion to great runs the past five seasons. However, they have always came short of begin crowned champions and now this may be their chance. In LeBeau’s five year tenure he’s registered great numbers in his road to becoming the number one goalie in the VHL which quickly focused once he was awarded the Aidan Shaw award back in season 34. With the help of Toronto’s defensive core it could be that the tandem they have in net and on defense can help LeBeau win another Aidan Shaw trophy with the likes of defensemen Jack Sound, Ville Sixten and Nikita Lebedev who have helped stop the pucks and execute on the offensive end. Lebedev, Sixten, and Sound all sit with 21 points combined, a +8 plus/minus rating, 57 shots blocked, and only 18 penalty minutes.

Toronto’s offense stands well put with Teemu Lehtinen, Jakub Kjellberg, Evgeny Namestnikov, Niklas Lindberg, and Chico Salmon skating in their top six. Niklas Lindberg and Nikita Lebedev’s 13 points not only lead the team in scoring but also, lays them third in the league. On a strong push the team is rapidly moving ahead in the standings with their three game winning streak as they look to possibly extend that to four. Lindberg, Lehtinen, and Salmon are easily the most offensive-minded line on the team as combined they have tallied for 16 goals and 32 points leading the team as the highest scoring line.

Toronto’s gears are set and if the team can continue this play against these elite teams it will only contribute to success in the long run. With their elite goalie, high tier defense, and forceful offensive team there is only good things in store for the team. Fans in the GTA are setting up for what could be the biggest year for the team since season 29. We can only hope for the best can the boys in blue bring back a cup for the roaring fans back here in Toronto, time will only tell.

Content: 3/3 - Welcome

Grammar: 2/2 - Very tempted to take points off here, but you just made your way back so that'd be awfully mean. A lot of the mistakes here could be easily avoided by reading aloud or even in your head. If you start running out of breath, then you need to add some commas. I'm sure your teammates would be willing to help you out by proofreading your work as well.
