That is usually the day when all the kids in Finland get to open their presents, not sure if it´s any different in other places, but that is the tradition there and the day I will open my presents if I get any that is. I´m actually flying to Finland for Christmas. I will be living in the same room I grew up, that will be pretty amazing experience, I just hope I can sleep without waking up all the time. I could usually hear everything that is going on around the house, even when the door was closed. Might just be my insane hearing abilities, or me being a light sleeper, but waking up all the time in middle of the night gets old pretty quickly. I will be in Finland for few days before traveling back to Quebec on the 26th of December. The schedule in VHL is pretty tight, but we do have couple days off, so I decided to fly back home to see some relatives and to have a traditional family Christmas. One thing is worrying me little bit, I´m fairly sure the GM of Quebec knows I´m heading back home, but I know he would like if I stayed in Quebec instead of sitting in the plane for hours. I sent him a letter and explained what I will be doing, but remains to be seen if he sees the funny side of it or if he even got the letter. I got plenty of time to worry about that when I get back from Finland. I´m quite excited about going back to Finland. It´s been a while, at least four or five months since I was in Finland. Seeing my parents, cousins and other relatives will be great as well, best part of Christmas is seeing people you might not get to see so often during the year, on top of that there is the food, which is pretty delicious. I love anything with potatoes in it. Potato salad is my absolutely favorite thing to eat during Christmas. One of the biggest things about Christmas is the gifts/presents, I used to like getting presents when I was younger, but these days I´m not too huge in all that. I still try to buy something for younger kids who might enjoy the gifts bit more, I also give some presents to my parents and close friends. For example, I´m giving a framed picture of myself to my best friend Kalevi. Both of my parents already have pictures from last few Christmases, so I decided to go for the easy was and give them both a gift card to the local supermarket. They both asked me to not give them gift cards, since they suck, so it will be a funny gift as well. But yeah, I will be spending the Christmas in Finland with the family, I want to wish everybody Merry Christmas and happy new year!
