With the S52 regular season over, we have time to go back and check to see which players had the biggest rises and falls from this fantasy season. As many of you guys who played are aware of, there's probably that guy who you picked high that disappointed big time, or a player you picked late that turned into a work horse. Without further ado, let's look at the top risers and fallers this year.

RISERS

1. Jim Lahey

as you all know from my previous article, Lahey shocked the world by becoming a star fantasy producer. He shocked them so much, in fact, that no team even drafted him. His 136.4 FP improvement bumped him from 54th to 7th and earned him the top defensemen award. Will Lahey be a one and done, or will he stay on top of the fantasy world? That's something we will have to wait to find out.

2. Ted Doughty

Doughty took a big leap forward after leaving Calgary. In Quebec, Doughty's hits and shot blocks numbers went way up, thanks to a higher usage, which resulted in a 111.6 FP increase. Once again, leaving Calgary worked wonders for an opposing player.

3. Niels Skovgaard

Part of the wonder squad known as Cologne, Skovgaard exploded for fantasy points this last season. He had shown improvement last season, but on a Cologne team with just 4 skaters, he became a focal point of the team with Sleeman(for at least part of the season). This led to him jumping up to 2nd overall in scoring, a 91.2 FP increase. His production will likely dip if he goes to a stronger team. But after 2 solid years Skovgaard has proven himself as a reliable fantasy player.

4. Pietro Maximoff

It's no surprise that you find the VHLs leading scorer on this list. After a season no one saw coming, Maximoff jumped into the top 5 in fantasy point producers after an 88.2 FP increase. Fantasy owners will be hoping Maximoff can keep up his big point production, as it is crucial to his FP output

5. Ilya Kopralkov

Kopralkov was a big gainer from last season, but the numbers are a little misleading. Of course, a 214.56 FP increase is huge, in fact the biggest of this year. However, considering Ilya only played 8 games as a backup this last year, and took over a starting role this year, it makes it a little less impressive

6. Benjamin Tumack

just adding this Inactive in for fun. It's pretty easy to improve when you only score 13.8 FP the year before :P

FALLERS

1. Shayne Gow

Just like how Lahey and Doughty benefitted greatly from leaving Calgary, Shayne Gow took a huge hit from going back there. After a monster season where he was the top scoring defenseman and 3rd overall FP scorer, Gow's production dropped a whopping 112 points and dropped him from "elite" to "shouldn't have even been selected". What a rough season

2. Asher Donovan

Donovan made waves in his first season with his rookie season, where he led the league in hits. Ever since then, however, his hits totals have waned, and his point production hasn't gone anywhere. Once again another Calgary casualty, Donovan's hit totals dropped from 286 to 182, and his shot block totals nearly disappeared. His future is uncertain.

3. Sir William Covington III

its well known by now that Covington's career has taken a nosedive this season. The normally elite scorer fell by 76.2 FP this season. Covington's production is heavily reliant on points, as he doesn't get many hits or blocks. So when the points aren't coming, it means trouble for fantasy owners

4. Maxime Deschamps

Shit happens. In this case, a massive drop in point productions and a disappearance in shots blocked is what happened. Therefore, a 70.2 FP drop came to be for Deschamps.

5. Artom Zhumbayev

a 220.47 FP drop is always rough, but it's all to blame on Rhett DeGrath. Zhumbayev was projected to have another monster season, but thanks to DeGrath going over the VHLM TPE limit, an Artom being all inactive and shit, this led to Zhumbayev becoming a backup and playing in only 8 games. How sad.

Review:

I didn't even realize that about Covington. Too bad for him. He'll get back on that horse though.

I wonder how many will pick Jim Lahey next season?
