New York Americans center Essian Ravenwing is off to a hot start in the S52 playoffs. In game one, the Welshman took charge with three assists, two of which were with the man advantage, in the Americans' 4-2 win over the rival Calgary Wranglers. Ravenwing also led both teams in faceoffs percentage, winning 20 of 32 draws for a 62.5% success rate.

Game two was a different story, with both teams playing a tight checking defensive game, but it was once again Ravenwing's propensity for scoring the clutch goals that proved to be the difference. Winger Tom Lincoln took a shot that missed the net, but the puck caromed off the back boards and right onto Ravenwing's stick. The rightie from Machynlleth made no mistake about burying the puck, and Americans' netminder Ilya Kopralkov did the rest, holding on for a 1-0 victory.

The Americans will now be traveling to the Great White North for the next two games and hope to not see their home rink until the next round, where they would face the Seattle Bears. Early in the playoffs, it looks like the Cologne Express are going to be advancing to the European Conference Finals, as they are up 2 games to none over HC Dynamo.
